Rumelihisarüstü Aşiyan Funicular Train Meets with Rails

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluBy saying 'Mayna', he brought the train that will serve on the Rumelihisarüstü – Aşiyan Funicular Line to the rails. Reminding that they restarted the work on the line, which was started in 2017 and stopped in 2018 due to lack of budget, entirely by using own resources, İmamoğlu said, “With great effort, by removing the heavy load on our shoulders from the past, with our own financing, meticulous and technical work, my friends, this funicular line to the end. brought,” he said. İmamoğlu gave the good news that the line, which will be integrated with the Bosphorus and M6 Metro lines, will be put into service at the end of May and the beginning of June.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) started the construction of Rumelihisarüstü – Aşiyan Funicular Line on 21 June 2017. Site delivery for the construction, electromechanical and vehicle purchase project of the 800-meter-long line with a 14,2 percent slope has started, and work has begun. While the works on the line were at the level of 2018 percent at the end of 23, due to the lack of equity budget; vehicle and funicular electromechanical system production was stopped before it started. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu The new management under the management restarted the production on the line, making the equity budget planning in June 2020. The line was brought to an end with the rapid works carried out.

SUMMARY THE LINE'S "BORING ADVENTURE"

The train, which will serve the line, was lowered to Rumelihisarüstü Station after 6 hours of work. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlushared the information about the line with the public before the train met the rails. Expressing that the construction of the line was an "annoying adventure", İmamoğlu said, "When we took over this line, unfortunately, it had a completion rate of around 23 percent. But sadly, close to 50 percent of the payment was made financially. This happened after a wrong, bad tender and contract. Of course, from the moment we took over this process, we took a special care. By the way, the fact that the company declared a conkardoto was another misfortune here. In this sense, it turned into a construction site that had to stop for a long time.”

“WE MANAGED A METICULOUS PROCESS”

Emphasizing that they are managing a rigorous process by acting entirely on their own resources and putting previous mistakes on legal ground, İmamoğlu said:

“With great effort, we can say that my friends have brought this funicular line to its end with our own financing, meticulous and technical work, by removing the heavy burden of the past period. We are currently on a line where the reinforced concrete works are completed at the level of 95-96 percent. In the next part of this line, as you can see, we will now put our train on the rails. Today, we are showing a suspended train to the people of Istanbul, using the phrase 'Hanging Invoice'. We will download it soon. Then the test drives will begin. Later, the remaining reinforced concrete works will be completed here. Both our landing station from Hisarüstü and our station in Aşiyan will be prepared meticulously. Because both Hisarüstü and Aşiyan are sensitive and meticulous points since they are already on the shore of the Bosphorus. They will be sensitive in terms of both harmony with nature and harmony with the environment and visuality. As Boğaziçi University is right next to its door, we will of course not forget our academics and students from Boğaziçi.”

THE LINE WILL BE INTEGRATED WITH THE STRAIT AND M6 METRO LINE

Emphasizing the importance of the line meeting the sea in the Bosphorus, İmamoğlu said, “We will start from there with a reasonable pier for now, but in the future, we will create a strong pier with its design and at the same time turn it into a Bosphorus line and turn it into a solid destination of the City Lines. We will add another point where we bring the lines coming from the Bosphorus and a kind of rail system together with the City Lines, into the lives of Istanbulites. In other words, our passengers will be able to come here from a few piers on the Anatolian side, go to Hisarüstü from here, join our M6 line, and easily integrate into other rail systems of Istanbul," he said. Sharing the information that they plan to put the line into service at the end of May or the beginning of June, İmamoğlu said:

“I DON'T THANK THE FORMER SUBCONTRACTOR ENOUGH ENOUGH”

“On behalf of the people of Istanbul, I sincerely thank all my colleagues who have contributed so far, the institutions and organizations that manage the financial processes from the rail systems, financial services and contribute to us in other matters. It is a very meticulous process; In other words, an intense effort was made to close the error, to correct it, and to correct the deficiencies. Unfortunately, I can't thank the subcontractor here and the process before that enough. But my friends got the process together. Good luck to Istanbulites, to the border of Beşiktaş and Sarıyer. Hopefully good service." After the evaluation speech, İmamoğlu told the employees via radio, “We will gradually say 'Mine'. Bless your hands and heart. We can begin” he commanded. After the command, the train to serve on the line was lowered to the rails.

Mayna: The command to lower the sail or anything by rope or pulley.
