Building Quality Control Laboratory, affiliated to ASKİ General Directorate, was accredited to the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) on February 1,5, 25, after 2022 years. The laboratory will now be able to inspect the thermoplastic pipes used by the contractor companies during the infrastructure works according to the "TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 General Conditions for the Competence of Experiment and Calibration Laboratories" standard valid in developed countries.

ASKİ General Directorate, which provides drinking water and waste water services to the citizens of the capital, continues to bring together infrastructure works with modern technology.

ASKİ pressed the button to transform the Building Quality Control Laboratory located in the İvedik Drinking Water Treatment Plant campus into a laboratory with calibration requirement and metrological traceability. The measurements made by the TÜRKAK-accredited laboratory, which confirms whether all laboratories in Turkey operate within the framework of international standards, will gain international validity from now on.

The Construction Quality Control Laboratory will be able to test the thermoplastic pipes used by the contractor companies in their manufacturing works in accordance with the "TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Experiment and Calibration Laboratories" standard valid in developed countries. The test results will be valid all over the world, including European countries, the USA and China.

THE LABORATORY TO SERVE ALL OF TURKEY WILL ALSO PROVIDE REVENUE TO ASKI

The inspection team from TÜRKAK completed the examinations it carried out at the Building Quality Control Laboratory on December 1,5, 21, after a period of 2021 years.

Following the accreditation on February 25, 2022, ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, Deputy General Manager Baran Bozoğlu and Head of Environmental Protection and Water Basins Department Ümit Güven Ulusoy visited the laboratory. Stating that the infrastructure materials coming from the cities of Turkey other than Ankara will also be tested at the Construction Quality Control Laboratory, Öztürk explained that this way, income will be provided to ASKİ:

“In October 2021, the Construction Quality Control Laboratory affiliated to our ASKİ General Directorate applied for accreditation to TÜRKAK. In December 2021, our laboratory was inspected by expert auditors from TÜRKAK for 2 days. On February 25, our accreditation certificate was issued by TÜRKAK. After this time, we will be able to perform tests not only within ASKİ but also for companies in all other cities. In other words, we will also provide services to cities other than Ankara. Of course, these tests will be accepted in Europe and the USA as we are accredited to TÜRKAK. We will do all kinds of tests regarding the heat resistance, density determination, internal pressure and impact resistance of the pipes. As ASKİ, our next target is to expand the scope of our accreditation in terms of both thermoplastic pipe tests and soil, aggregate and concrete tests with new investments. There are additional units we have defined for our laboratory. We will implement them in a short time.”

Öztürk also said that the physical conditions of the laboratory building will be improved in the coming days, modern devices working with the latest technology will be brought to the laboratory, and various trainings will be organized for the laboratory personnel with an understanding that is constantly renewing itself.

ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY IS ALSO ACCREDITED TO TURKAK

The Building Quality Control Laboratory affiliated to the Department of Environmental Protection and Watersheds Building Quality Control Branch, which has been accredited to TÜRKAK since 2004, continues to inspect the compliance of Başkent's drinking water with international standards.

In the Environment Laboratory, drinking water analyzes are made and Ankara's city network system is regularly monitored.
