“We will not give up, we will work, we will run”

Stating that Kayseri was a strategic and safe city that made airplanes in the 1920s, said 'we are here' in both the military and civil fields, and is passionate and devoted to its country and its values, Büyükkılıç said, “When the first factory for aircraft was built, the aircraft from the railways was used. The relevant materials and parts were brought to the region we call Air Supply with oxcarts, and a factory was established there. Now we are talking about aviation, remote technologies. From where to where, thank you. We will not give up, we will work, we will run. We love our city, our country. We consider serving people as worship, with the philosophy that let the people live so that the state can live. We are grateful to those who hammer a nail for this country, thank you. We are Seljuks, we are Ottomans, we are the Republic,” he said.

President Büyükkılıç stated that he was really pleased to be at the Aeroex 2022 Aviation and Space Technology Symposium, which focuses on the aviation industry, which has an important place in the city's history, and said:

“Our city's first meeting with the aviation industry dates back to 96 years ago. Tayyare ve Motor Türk Anonim Şirketi (TOMTAŞ), which was opened in our city on October 6, 1926, and then Kayseri Airplane Factory (KTF) manufactured dozens of aircraft in the past and delivered them to the Turkish Air Force. Our facilities, which continue their activities as the Second Air Supply and Maintenance Center Command with its experience from the past, continue to serve our Turkish Air Force today as in the past. The use and prevalence of civil aircraft are increasing day by day. Despite the contractions in the civil aviation sector during the Kovid-19 pandemic, we see that the sector is recovering quickly. In the field of military aviation, we see that the aging conventional fleets of countries are updated with new generation warplanes and Unmanned aerial vehicles.”

Explaining that they are proud to see companies such as TUSAŞ and Baykar, one of the country's leading aviation companies, serve not only the country but also the global aviation industry today, Büyükkılıç said, “We have closely followed the contributions of the unmanned aerial vehicles developed by both of our companies to the just cause of our friendly and brotherly country Azerbaijan. . Every investment to be made in the aviation sector, which has the potential to change the destiny of a country, not only in economic terms, is of great importance for our country. Today, many new technologies that change the rules of the industry such as unmanned aerial vehicles, flying cars and hybrid electric motor systems are developing and maturing in the aviation industry. I find it very important that the growing aviation industry in our country and our national companies closely follow such technologies that change the rules as they grow in capacity.”

President Büyükkılıç emphasized that every work to be done on aviation is an important investment for both the city and the future of the country, and in his speech, “On the other hand, our National Space Program, announced by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan last year, includes very important steps for our future. We both support and convey our prayers to the targets and efforts of making a hard landing on the Moon in 2023 and a soft landing on the Moon in 2028, not because it is easy, but because it will provide important experience and knowledge to our nation. Every work we do on aviation is an important investment to be made both in our city and in the future of our country. Although we will see the fruits of these investments in the medium and long term, our country and the oppressed all over the world need these efforts. Because humanity needs your message.”

Büyükkılıç added that as Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, they support the investments and studies to be made in the field of aviation and space in the city, which has a history of 100 years in the field of aviation.

TAI Academy President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pınarbaşı stated that he is very happy to be in Kayseri. Pınarbaşı made a presentation about the investments and works of TUSAŞ in this field at the symposium.
