Turkey's First Lithium-Ion Battery Production Facility Has Arrived at Mass Production Stage

ASPİLSAN Energy, a subordinate of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, has reached the stage of mass production at its Lithium Ion Battery Production Facility.

ASPİLSAN Energy, with the support of the Presidency project, made the transition to the mass production phase in Turkey's first lithium-ion battery production facility with a closed area of 25 thousand square meters in Kayseri.

THE FACILITY WILL PRODUCE 22 MILLION BATTERIES A YEAR

Lithium-ion cylindrical battery production will be carried out at this facility for the first time in Europe. The new facility will produce approximately 220 million batteries per year with a capacity of 22 megawatt-hours.

The batteries to be produced here will make Turkey a competitive country in this market thanks to its superior features.

Lithium Ion Battery Production Project Director Nihat Aksüt said in a statement, "When you compare our battery with batteries of similar capacity from famous brands, we see that it has the ability to work in lower temperature conditions and has a higher discharge rate." he said.

FIRST PHASE READY FOR MASS PRODUCTION

Domestic and national lithium-ion batteries will be used in a wide range of areas such as telecommunications, robotic systems, home appliances and energy storage systems, especially in the defense industry. Moreover, this production covers only the first phase of the new facility.

The second phase works of the facility in the production of lithium-ion batteries have also been started. The most important part of the second phase is the production of batteries and batteries for electric cars. When the second phase is completed, this facility will be able to produce batteries and batteries for Turkey's domestic automobile.

Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Energy, who said that they will produce prismatic batteries at this stage, spoke as follows:

“Here, again, we will have produced batteries that will make energy storage systems, telecom batteries and electric vehicle batteries. We will supply cells to electric vehicle manufacturers. After that, we will turn those cells into batteries ourselves and sell them to electric vehicle manufacturers.”

Turkey's first lithium-ion battery production facility will start mass production in May and will be officially opened.
