The official opening ceremony of the events to be held throughout the year due to Bursa being chosen as the 2022 Capital of the Turkic World turned into a feast with the participation of 20 artists from nearly 700 countries. Speaking at the night when the voice of the Turkish world rose from the sky of Bursa, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said, “Hopefully, our most proud work that we will leave to the next generations will be 'unity in language, thought and action'. We will not break from our roots, nor will we take our eyes off the horizon for a moment. Time is time for unity, time is time for dirlik, time is time for Bursa,” he said.
The official opening ceremony of the events in Bursa, which was selected as the 38 Turkic World Capital of Culture at the 2022th Term Meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), was held at the Tofaş Sports Hall. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar, the President of the Aksakallılar Council of the Turkish States Organization Binali Yıldırım, the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the Secretary General of the Turkish States Organization Bagdat Amreyev, the Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat, the Turksoy Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality.
