The stator, turbo generator rotor and low pressure cylinder, which are the main equipment of the turbine plant of the 1st power unit of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, were delivered to the Eastern Sea Cargo Terminal at the Akkuyu NPP construction site.

The total weight of the cargo delivered to the site was over 1000 tons, and the biggest piece of equipment was the turbo generator stator with a weight of over 430 tons and a length of 12 meters. The weight of the other equipment delivered with the turbo generator is 260 tons for the turbo generator rotor, 240 tons for the low pressure cylinder body base, and 147 tons for the low pressure cylinder body, respectively.

Zoomlion ZCC 1250 crawler crane with a lifting capacity of 12500 tons was used to unload heavy equipment from the ship. After the turbine plant's equipment was unloaded with the help of a crane, it was transferred to special load platforms with motorized modular carriers, and from there it was transported to the temporary storage area at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. It took 7 days for the equipment to be unloaded and transported.

Sergey Butckikh, First Deputy General Manager of AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş and Director of Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) Construction Works, said in a statement on the subject: “The stator of a turbo generator is the heaviest equipment of a nuclear power plant. Therefore, shipping conditions are also unique. In the near future, we expect the arrival of another low-pressure cylinder body and a sound-insulating turbine case. This year, we plan to start the installation of the main technological equipment of the turbine building of the first power unit.”

The turbo generator reaching the Akkuyu NPP site consists of two main parts, the rotor and the stator. Inside the stationary stator, a 12-metre-long steel three-dimensional cylindrical structure, a rotor with a powerful mechanical energy store rotates. These equipments enable the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy.

The design of Akkuyu NPP's steam turbine consists of three modules, a combined high and medium pressure cylinder (YOBS) and two low pressure cylinders. Each module is equipped with a vane cylinder into which steam is introduced. The steam passes through the YOBS and turns the turbine, thus generating electricity.

During the acceptance process of the equipment, experts from the Nuclear Regulatory Authority and AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. and representatives of AAEM Limited Company, which undertakes the task of supplying equipment, were also present. After the inspection according to the highest quality standards, the turbine plant's equipment is delivered to the Akkuyu NPP construction site by sea. Before the equipment is handed over for installation work, an entrance check is also carried out by a special commission to verify its integrity after shipping. Then visual, measurement and other types of control are carried out that check the quality and completion of the design and accompanying documents.
