Nearly a hundred local governments and non-governmental organizations came together in Güzelbahçe Yelki and made a press statement against the regulation that opens olive groves to mining activities. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor attended the "Don't Touch My Olive" meeting held with the call of the Aegean Environment and Culture Platform (EGECEP). Tunç Soyer also participated.

In the statement, CHP İzmir deputies Tacettin Bayır and Özcan Purçu, HDP İzmir Deputy Murat Çepni, Güzelbahçe Mayor Mustafa İnce, Seferihisar Mayor İsmail Adult, Çeşme Mayor Ekrem Oran, Balçova Mayor Fatma Çalkaya, Karaburun Mayor İlkay Girgin Erdoğan, Konak Municipality President Abdul Batur, Karşıyaka Mayor Cemil Tugay, Izmir City Council President Prof. Dr. Adnan Oğuz Akyarlı, members of parliament, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations and nature-friendly citizens also took part.
