Republic of Turkey Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) announced the airline plane, passenger and freight statistics for February 2022.
Accordingly, in February, the number of planes landing and taking off at our environmentally and passenger-friendly airports reached 51.021 in domestic flights and 32.401 in international lines, with a total of 105.990 airplane traffic including overpasses. Compared to the same month of 2022, the aircraft traffic served in February 2021 increased by 11,7% in domestic flight traffic, by 91,4% in international aircraft traffic and by 41,3% in total aircraft traffic. In addition, 2019% of the aircraft traffic was reached in February 81.
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, the passenger traffic, which greatly decreased worldwide and in our country, approached its previous level in February 2022 compared to the same period of 2019. Thus, our airports reached 2022% of 2019 passenger traffic in February 73 in terms of total passenger traffic.
In this month, domestic passenger traffic was 5.222.997 and international passenger traffic was 4.157.077 at the airports serving throughout Turkey. Thus, a total of 9.392.145 passenger traffic was served in the month in question, including direct transit passengers. Compared to the same month of 2022, the passenger traffic served in February 2021 increased by 40,3% in domestic passenger traffic, by 149,2% in international passenger traffic and by 74% in total passenger traffic.
Airport freight (cargo, mail and baggage) traffic; In February, it was 51.670 tons in domestic flights, 183.911 tons in international lines, a total of 235.581 tons. Compared to the same month of 2022, the freight traffic served in February 2021 increased by 34,9% in domestic freight traffic, 24,5% in international freight traffic and 26,6% in total freight traffic.
3.559.101 PASSENGERS WERE SERVED AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT IN FEBRUARY
Aircraft traffic that landed and took off at Istanbul Airport in February reached 6.907 in total, 19.297 on domestic lines and 26.204 on international flights.
In February, this airport served a total of 963.361 passengers, 2.595.740 on domestic flights and 3.559.101 on international routes.
Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities and cargo transportation continue, had 1.822 aircraft traffic in February. Thus, a total of 28.026 aircraft traffic took place at these two airports.
THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS TRAVELING BY AIR IN TWO MONTHS EXCEEDED 18 MILLION
In the two-month period (January-February), the number of airplanes landing and departing from airports was 101.376 in domestic lines and 68.084 in international lines. Thus, a total of 218.091 aircraft traffic took place with the overpasses.
Domestic passenger traffic in airports across Turkey of 10.248.161 of the 8.398.689 international passengers traffic in this period were given a total of 18.673.015 passengers with direct transit passengers.

In a two-month period at Istanbul Airport, a total of 13.651 aircraft, 39.012 on domestic flights and 52.663 on international flights; A total of 1.855.530 passenger traffic was realized, with 5.188.788 on domestic lines and 7.044.318 on international lines. This number was 4.497 aircraft traffic at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. In the same period, 57.160 aircraft traffic took place at the two airports.
