Pointing out that the snowfall will be even more effective on Saturday, İmamoğlu said, “Saturday is the day when the heaviest snowfall will be 4-5 days. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluheld a press conference where he shared information about the cold air wave and snowfall of Siberia origin, which started to be effective in the morning. Underlining the issue of cooperation with citizens, Mayor İmamoğlu said, “Friday is a busy day normally in Istanbul, but the measures taken by our Governor's Office are both administrative holidays and school holidays; I just saw the statement of the President of the Chamber of Commerce. There are some measures such as shopping malls opening after 12.00 and closing again at 19.00. In addition to all these measures, some TIR entrances were opened, but TIR entrances were closed in the morning. At the moment, bus exits from the bus station related to bus services are closed. In that respect, there are all these measures, but the main thing is that our 16 million citizens must be in harmony with us. Unless it is compulsory, please do not drive our citizens. As I said, let's underline that Saturday is the day when the heaviest snow is expected in this four-five-day snowfall. My friends informed me that a snow thickness of 15-20 cm could be reached in a flash in some places that day. Therefore, it is valuable for our citizens to show sensitivity in this regard. I underline that it is essential for vehicles that have to exit urgently to use snow tires and take the necessary precautions. There is still the risk of frost and icing. This is especially the case at night when the snow stops for a moment and is frosty. Let's say here that an intense salting continues both by our institution and by other institutions, and over 30 thousand tons of salt is used in just three days; It should be noted that the use of solutions continues intensively at the points where solution is needed. WORKS OF IMM
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, with all its units, continues to work in an alarm state as of Wednesday. Before the adverse weather conditions, all necessary measures were taken to ensure the normal course of city life. The works are managed under the coordination of AKOM. It works with 2.000 vehicles-construction equipment and 9.500 personnel as part of its efforts to combat snow and winter conditions. DAILY SALT AND STOCK USED
IMM Road Maintenance Teams used a total of 3 tons of salt in the last 29.608 days. 9.080 of this amount was given to public and district municipalities. Again, 3 tons of solution was used in the last 8 days. Currently, 195.791 tons of salt and 1290 tons of solution are kept ready in the stocks of IMM.

ICA (YSS Bridge and Ring Roads) 1.043 tons of salt, 198 tons of solution, 103 tons of urea
