One Hundred and Twenty-Seven-Year-Old Young Cinema Exhibition Opened

Hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Izmir collector Şerif Antepli's “One Hundred and Twenty-Seven-Year-Old Young; Cinema” was opened at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM) hosted İzmir collector Şerif Antepli's “One Hundred and Seventeen Years Old Youth; The exhibition "Cinema" was opened. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Suat Çağlayan, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Nilay Kökkılınç, Şerif Antepli, collectors, art lovers, bureaucrats of the Metropolitan Municipality and citizens attended the opening.

Antepli: “It is a great honor for me”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Şerif Antepli said, “My surname is Antepli, but most of my life was spent in İzmir. My childhood, my youth, half of my life was spent here. I opened 11 of my exhibitions in Istanbul. They said, "Would you like to open your 12th exhibition in Izmir?" I said, "This is a great honor for me." It will be one of the exhibitions that will occupy the most important place in my life.”

Çağlayan: “Here is İzmir”

Suat Çağlayan, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, said, “It is an exhibition where everyone can find something for themselves. There is much here to inspire us to shape our future. Here is Izmir. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer gave its full support for the realization of such an important exhibition. I thank him very much,” he said.

Kökkılınç: “Let the cinema always stay young”

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Nilay Kökkılınç said, “We are very honored to be here today. In this important exhibition, we see the accumulation of our collectors on cinema. As the famous Spanish director Luis Buñuel said, 'Cinema is the best medium for expressing the worlds of emotions, dreams and instincts.' We want the cinema to meet with more viewers and always stay young. We want İzmir to be a cultural capital and to host many international organizations. Collecting is really enjoyable work. I would like to thank Şerif Antepli, the collector of the exhibition, for bringing us together with such a valuable exhibition.”

Open until March 15

The exhibition, which includes examples of Şerif Antepli's 127 years of experience in cinema, includes posters, photographs, magazines, vehicles, stamps, trinkets, telephone cards, chewing gum-chocolate cards, soundtracks and sections with advertisements. In the exhibition, which includes the Old İzmir Cinemas, the films shot in İzmir and the city-specific section about the people of İzmir in the cinema, examples from 100 important films of world cinema can be watched.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge between 15-09.30 on weekdays and Saturdays, and between 17.30-12.00 on Sundays until March 17.00.
