New Approaches in the Treatment of Eye Disorders

Kaşkaloğlu Eye Hospital Founder Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kaşkaloğlu said that with the developing technology, laser and intraocular lens treatment gave successful results in eye disorders.

Expressing that the correct diagnosis should be made for the correct treatment process in eye disorders, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kaşkaloğlu stated that the eye disorder also affects the quality of life negatively.

Myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, which we call far and near vision or loss of clarity, are the leading ones. The simplest solution for eye disorders is to use glasses and contact lenses. If the patient does not want to use them, laser or lens surgeries should be preferred. Laser surgeries are the most common type of treatment and the results are obtained in a short time. If the eye structure of the person is not suitable for laser surgery, lens surgery is in question. Between the ages of 40-50, one of the laser or lens operations should be preferred according to the patient's condition.

Informing that high numbers cannot be applied in laser surgeries, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kaşkaloğlu continued: “In such cases, we prefer intraocular lenses called ICLs.

Appropriate patient selection is very important here. Thanks to smart lenses, people can easily see near and far without glasses. If the person has eye pressure, glaucoma or lazy eye, this operation is not suitable. In order for the results to be positive in smart lens surgeries, it is also important for the doctor to examine the patient well and to have information about the eye structure, age, profession and even personality structure. The biggest advantage is that the person can do all his work without glasses. Smart lens users can see halos around lights at night. This situation is not noticed by the patient after a certain period of time. While selecting these lenses, the number of the lens and the degree of astigmatism are measured with special devices. The appropriate lens is supplied and surgically placed. This is done just like a cataract surgery. Therefore, those who have smart lens surgery do not get cataracts. The operation takes about 10 minutes for one eye. The patient can return to his normal life in a short time.
