prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci was born on December 4, 1960 in Kahramanmaraş. After graduating from Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture, Kirişci completed his master's degree at the Institute of Science of the same faculty and his doctorate at Cranfield University in England. Kirişci worked as a technical staff in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and gave lectures as a lecturer at Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture.

Kirişci became an associate professor in 1995 and a professor in 2001. He has published many articles, books, commission reports and papers, some of which are in foreign languages. Kirişci, who served as a manager in many non-governmental organizations, was elected as Adana Deputy from the AK Party in the 22nd term. In the same period, as a Member of the Turkey-European Union Joint Parliamentary Commission, Kirişci served as the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, served as the Chairman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and was re-elected for the same task in the 23rd term. Kirişci became the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry with the Presidential Decision published in today's issue of the Official Gazette. Kirişci speaks English, is married and has three children.
