Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, the project of the greatest, firsts and records, will be opened tomorrow, and said, “We are leaving a unique work in the world to keep alive the memory of that unprecedented war and the sacrificed lives. 1915 Çanakkale Bridge; It is a unique monument and a seal struck in the Dardanelles, carrying the memory of our martyrs with its name, architectural design and technical features.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a press statement before the opening of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. Making a statement on the bridge, Karaismailoğlu said, “Çanakkale is the place where the destiny of our nation is drawn. A generation was martyred in the world war; but thanks to them, a nation gained its independence. The value of this land is indescribable. We wish God's mercy on our martyrs who were shot on their clean foreheads for the sake of a crescent moon and entered the black earth as if they were entering a rose garden. There are two duties for us, who have inherited such a legacy. To pay our respects to our ancestors who wrote this epic and to leave a gift for our future generations to rise on, as we learned from them. Today is the day we fulfill our duty”.

Karaismailoğlu stated that on the 107th anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory, they are experiencing the rightful pride and honor of putting the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway and 2023 Çanakkale Bridge, which are among the 1915 Vision Projects, into service.

“Tomorrow with the honor of our President, we will open the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which is the golden link of the road, together with the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway. National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, 'What is this Bosphorus war? Do you have a spouse that world?' says… We are leaving a unique work in the world in order to keep the memory of that unprecedented war and the lives sacrificed alive. 1915 Çanakkale Bridge; It is a unique monument and a seal struck in the Dardanelles, carrying the memory of our martyrs with its name, architectural design and technical features. Our bridge is the project of the greatest, first and record. Our bridge is 2 meters long, with a middle span of 23 thousand 770 meters and side spans of 3 meters each. Together with the 563 and 365 meter approach viaducts, the total crossing length reaches 680 meters. It will go down in history as the first bridge in the world to be designed with such a long mid-span with twin decks. With a tower height of 4 meters and a cannonball figure of 608 meters for architectural purposes, it will be a suspension bridge with the highest towers in the world, with an altitude of 318 meters above sea level. Our 16 Çanakkale Bridge carries many symbols that are very precious to us. The middle span of 334 thousand 1915 meters refers to 2, the 23th anniversary of our Republic. Its 100-meter steel towers mark the 2023 March 318 Çanakkale Victory. The 18-meter architectural cannonball figures are our respect and salutations to Seyit Onbaşı, who shouldered the cannonballs with superhuman strength. Red and white towers point to our red flag.”

WE EQUIPPED MALKARA-CANAKKALE HIGHWAY AND CANAKKALE BRIDGE WITH SMART TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

Karaismailoğlu said, “Our project, which we completed by working day and night with 4 colleagues, 30 thousand personnel and 6 construction machines during the 740-year construction period, is both our debt of loyalty to our martyred ancestors and the guarantee of the bright future of our country”. He also said that it is among the exemplary and leading projects in Turkey with its technical features. Pointing out that the Çanakkale Bridge, together with the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, is equipped with smart transportation systems, Karaismailoğlu said that within the scope of the project, 225 thousand 250 meters long fiber optic communication infrastructure, 34 variable message signs, 62 event detection camera systems, 6 meteorology measurement stations, 1 disaster. He noted that important systems such as a rescue center and an emergency call system were used.

MORE THAN 1.5 MILLION TREES PLANT ON BRIDGE AND HIGHWAY ROUTES

Underlining that fog, icing and accident risks are monitored with artificial intelligence on a 7/24 basis in control centers, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “With the LED Highway Lighting System, which we will implement for the first time in Turkey, we will save energy close to 3 million 530 thousand kilowatt-hours per year compared to other systems. In this way, we will prevent 300 tons of carbon emissions. Within the scope of our bridge and highway project, a total of 540 million 1 thousand trees were planted, 540 thousand of which are on the highway route.

HIGHWAY INTEGRATION IN WEST OF TURKEY WILL BE PROVIDED

Emphasizing that the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway is an important part of the 324-kilometer Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway project, Karaismailoğlu said that this highway will also be the continuation of the highway chain surrounding the entire Marmara Sea when connected to the Gebze-İzmir Highway. Karaismailoğlu said, “Thanks to the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, the ruby ​​necklace of the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway and the Dardanelles Strait, the traffic load from Europe and Thrace will reach the Southern Marmara and the Aegean via Çanakkale, without going around the Northern Marmara. With the entry into service of our highways, the transportation, production, industry, trade and service sectors of Western Anatolia and the Aegean - even the Western Mediterranean Region - will be revived, along with Thrace. Even before the project was opened, it started to give positive signals for our country's economy. In addition, our agricultural products reaching Marmara, especially Istanbul, from our city and region, will now come to our greengrocers and markets, and then to our nation's table, before being at the mercy of the air and the sea. Our highway and bridge will also support the culture and tourism of Marmara, Aegean and Çanakkale, which are important tourism destinations. We will contribute to our commercial and cultural relations with Greece and Bulgaria as well as Europe and the Balkans. With our project, highway integration in the west of Turkey will also be achieved. As a very valuable part of our attempt to become a global logistics superpower in the 'Middle Corridor' led by our country with our 'One Belt One Highway' projects, it will contribute to the uninterrupted trade route we have established from Beijing to London.

ANNUAL SAVINGS 415 MILLION EURO

Pointing out that with the connection roads and the 101-kilometer-long Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, the transportation will be 40 kilometers shorter compared to the existing state road, Karaismailoğlu said that more importantly, the two sides, which are reached after hours by ferry, will come together in 6 minutes. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that while the duration and costs of transportation will be significantly reduced in this way, advantages will be provided in foreign trade, and thousands of people have been provided with job opportunities in the construction and operation of the project. Karaismailoğlu said, “While our highway will connect the Marmara and Aegean Regions, one of the most developed regions of our country, at the same time, we will increase the integration with our ports together with the iron and air transportation systems”, adding, “The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, which we have built with the Build-Operate-Transfer model. Our project was completed in a record time of 2 years with an investment amount of 545 billion 4 billion Euros. Thanks to our project, annually; We will save 382 million euros from time, 31 million 300 thousand euros from fuel consumption, equivalent to 3 thousand 234 trees, and 1 million 900 thousand euros for the environment with the reduction in carbon emissions. Thus, the total amount of savings will reach 415 million euros annually. With the opening of the project 1,5 years ago, we have contributed 628 million Euros to the national economy. Our project; Effect on Gross National Product; It is noteworthy that it has 2 billion 442 million euros, its effect on production is 5 billion 362 million euros, and its effect on employment is 118 thousand people.
