
The first operation was carried out in the customs area of the Kapıkule Border Gate by the teams of the Edirne Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate.
Passengers and accompanying luggage on a passenger bus arriving from Bulgaria to enter Turkey were referred to x-ray control. During the scanning process, suspicious density was found in 2 suitcases belonging to a foreign passenger, and the luggage belonging to the passenger was checked. During the controls, 120 ferret furs, 3 mink fur coats and a total of 123 furs were caught.
The second operation was carried out in the customs area of the Sarp Border Gate by the Sarp Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams.
During the x-ray control, a suspicious density was detected in the luggage of a foreign national passenger who came from Georgia to enter Turkey. As a result of opening the luggage belonging to the passenger for control purposes, 85 chinchilla skins, 20 marten skins, 3 lynx skins and a total of 108 skins were caught.
123 pieces of fur and 108 pieces of mail were seized by Customs Enforcement teams.
An investigation is continuing before the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor about the passengers concerned.
