Istanbul Half Marathon will be run for the 27th time on Sunday, March 17

Organized by İBB Spor İstanbul, N Kolay İstanbul Half Marathon will color the streets of the Historic Peninsula for the 27th time on Sunday, March 17. IBB President, who attended the press conference of the event from the world of Metaverse Ekrem İmamoğluHe said that they offer sports opportunities in every corner of the city so that 16 million Istanbulites can lead an active life. İmamoğlu said, “We turned the eyes of the world athletics world to Istanbul with the N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon, which hosted the world's fastest track record. We will continue our efforts to accelerate the pace of Istanbul.”

N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon, organized by Spor Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), will be run for the 27th time on Sunday, March 2022, 17 on the Historic Peninsula. The press conference of the Marathon, which hosted the records, was held at Swisotel The Bosphorus.

İBB Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, Turkish Athletics Federation President Fatih Çintimar, Spor İstanbul General Manager Renay Onur, Aktif Bank General Manager Ayşegül Adaca and the sports community brought the event together, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu also participated in the Metaverse world at the same time in accordance with the technological developments.

PRESIDENT İMAMOĞLU CALLED FROM THE WORLD OF METAVERSE

Addressing the participants with his avatar on Decentraland, one of the most popular platforms of Metaverse, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluStating that they follow the developments in the field of technology and innovation in order to turn them into benefits for Istanbulites, he said, "We will work to be in 5 places at the same time, if necessary, so that Istanbulites can live the best life and receive service."

Emphasizing that they attach more importance to physical activity and health that comes with sports, İmamoğlu continued his words as follows:

“Although Turkey is 32 years younger than Europe with an average age of 12, it is number one in Europe in terms of obesity and type 2 diabetes. That's why we offer year-round events so that 16 million Istanbul residents can lead an active life throughout the year. In the N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon in 2021, the first track and field record was broken in Turkey and female athletes made the marathon the fastest track in the world. With this important event, we turned the eyes of the world athletics world to Istanbul. We will continue to work to accelerate the pace of Istanbul.”

AMONG THE WORLD'S MOST IMPORTANT MARATHONS

IMM Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar stated that they have crowned such a valuable area as the Historic Peninsula with the unifying power of sports, and said, “I think it will be a very enjoyable race this year as well. The best elite athletes of the world will compete in Istanbul on March 27. As IMM, we will continue to carry out works that will be beneficial to sports and public health.”

OVER 10 THOUSAND EXCLUSIVE ATHLETES PARTICIPATE

N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon, which will be run in Elite Label category, will have 21K, 10K and skating categories this year. The competition will start in Yenikapı, tour the Historic Peninsula and end in Yenikapı.

N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon will be run with 10 elite athletes registered this year and a participant at the summit of 389 years. Again, with 17 foreign athletes registered, the highest number of foreign athletes in the history of the half marathon was reached. In the marathon, the world's best elite athletes will be on the track again.
