In the statement, the support given by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to the cooperatives and producers without discrimination was underlined and the statements "About half of the milk distributed is supplied from Tire Süt".
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tire Dairy Cooperative President Mahmut Eskiyörük responded to the claims of the Dairy Lamb Project, which provides access to milk for thousands of children throughout the city, with a written statement. In the statement, it was stated that Eskiyörük's statements do not reflect the truth, underlining the support given by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to cooperatives and producers without discrimination. As Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, purchases are made from producers and producer partners within the scope of contracted procurement model, pursuant to article 4734/a of the Public Procurement Law No. 3, from many of our cooperatives operating within the borders of our city and considering the characteristics of the region. Purchases to be made regarding this article are considered within the scope of exempt purchases in accordance with the principles of the Public Procurement Law No. 4734 in order to support small producers, cooperatives formed by producers and unions. Notice that the law says producers and partners, not a single cooperative. In this context, purchases have been made from 2019 different producer cooperatives since 61.
To expand the scope of these supports and in accordance with the principles of equality, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç SoyerAs expressed by . Within the scope of our Dairy Lamb project, thousands of children living in our province drink healthy milk, and purchases will be made from each of our cooperatives that meet the requirements and conformity in milk purchases for our project.
Cooperatives and higher unions are established by the producers in accordance with the principles of the Cooperatives Law No. 1163 and are organizations with thousands of producer members. In this context, within the scope of the purchases made within the cooperatives, the products produced by thousands of producers can be sold at their values, and it is prevented that the products produced are kept in the hands of the producers and incurring losses.
In addition, milk purchased from Bergama and Kiraz within the scope of the Dairy Lamb Project, SS Çamavlu Agricultural Development Cooperative, SS Örenli Agricultural Development Cooperative, SS Hisarköy as a Village-Koop partner of the İzmir Agricultural Development and Other Agricultural Cooperatives Union, of which Tire Süt is a partner. It is supplied from Agricultural Development Cooperative, SS Yukarı Cuma Agricultural Development Cooperative and SS Çömlekçi Agricultural Development Cooperatives.
In this context, many cooperatives have been united within the body of higher unions in order to ensure that the producer cooperatives do not break away from each other and create stronger structures and provide better services to both the producer and the citizen to whom the product will be delivered. These upper unions guide the producer cooperatives in many subjects such as ensuring unity among cooperatives, increasing the welfare level of the cooperative partner producers by increasing their market share, and making production plans according to the geographical structures of the region. In accordance with the relevant legislation, both producer cooperatives and higher unions form a management team. These management cadres are chosen by the joint producers for the cooperatives and determined by the joint cooperatives for the superior unions.
Increasing the support it provides to our producers every year, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has purchased a total of 2012 million 107 thousand liters of milk since 378 within the scope of the Dairy Lamb Project, and provided 440 million TL of support in return. 95 million 705 thousand liters of these purchases were procured from Tire Milk Cooperative, 11 million 665 thousand liters were procured from other 5 cooperatives in Kiraz and Bergama. In return for the milk purchased, 371 million 409 thousand TL was given to Tire Dairy Development Cooperative and 5 million 68 thousand TL was given to the other 591 cooperatives. The amount of milk received from the other 3 cooperatives participating in the project in the last 5 years is 11 million 665 thousand liters, and the amount of payment made is 68 million 591 thousand TL.

In return for these purchases, 25 million 600 thousand TL will be paid to Tire Süt and 5 million TL will be paid to the other 26 cooperatives. As can be seen, approximately half of the distributed milk is procured from a cooperative (Tire Süt), while the other half is procured from five cooperatives from different regions.
The President of Tire Dairy Cooperative, Mr. Mahmut Eskiyörük, states in all his statements that the salvation of Turkish farmers and producers is through cooperatives and cooperatives. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality did not take any attitude contrary to these statements, on the contrary, it implemented supportive decisions. It has expanded the product range purchased, and has increased the number of cooperatives supported, thus the number of producers. This includes milk producers who are supported within the scope of the Dairy Lamb Project. The milk producers of Kiraz and Bergama regions now receive the support of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. In this context, the fact that Mr. Mahmut Eskiyörük reflects the purchases made by our municipality to provide lifeline to small-scale cooperatives to the public clearly reveals the inconsistency between his discourses.
In addition, Mr. Eskiyörük, as of the end of 2020, did not participate in the meetings held by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with milk producer cooperatives every six months within the scope of the Milk Lamb Project, did not share his views and thoughts with the other small-scale cooperatives at the table with our municipality, and appointed cooperative employees instead. It is seen as another inconsistency that no one attends the meetings of such an important support, neither at the level of the chairman nor at the level of partners, and that the process is carried out with the employees.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has employed 9 driver personnel, the cooperative employee that Tire Dairy Cooperative declared to be dismissed due to the changes in the amount of milk purchased. The 9 vehicles mentioned by Mr. Eskiyörük are the property of the cooperative. It is obvious that they can evaluate them as they wish. In this context, we state that the statements of Mr. Eskiyörük do not reflect the truth and present it to the public's discretion.
