'Comfort' has been registered with the measurement made for the first time in Turkey

For the first time in Turkey, the comfort level measurement of a railway line was carried out on the 'University Yurtlar- Tekkeköy' tram line, where Samsun Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary SAMULAŞ A.Ş. provides passenger transportation service. The railway line was determined as 'comfortable' as a result of the evaluation made in ISO standards, taking into account the compatibility of the tram wheel with the rail. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said that approximately 300 million passengers are transported annually with 15 trips per day in the Light Rail System.
Comfort level measurement of a railway line for the first time in Turkey (in ISO 35-2631 and ISO 1-2631 standards) on the 4-kilometer 'University Yurtlar- Tekkeköy' tram line, where Samsun Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary SAMULAŞ A.Ş. provides passenger transportation services. done. The study, which was carried out to determine passenger and personnel comfort, was carried out by Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Civil Engineering Department Doctor Lecturer Sertaç Tuhta and Samsun University Rail Systems Machinery Technology Program Lecturer Ali Samet Ayvaz.

REPORTED IN ISO STANDARDS

In the study, in which the compatibility of the tram wheel and the rail was discussed in various parameters, the effect of the vibration that occurs while the tram is in motion on the passengers, personnel and the environment was evaluated. In the study, the comfort level of the railway was measured with special accelerometers mounted on the trams, and the results of the analysis of the railway line were determined as 'Comfortable', while they were reported in ISO standards with domestic and national software.

'SUITABLE FOR PASSENGER COMFORT AND HUMAN HEALTH'

Explaining the importance of the work done, SAMULAŞ A.Ş. General Manager Gökhan Beler stated that the results of the analysis will be evaluated separately for the 1st Stage Gar-OMÜ Rectorate, 2nd Stage Gar-Tekkeköy and 3rd Stage OMÜ Rectorate-Dormitory lines, and said, “In total, the raw acceleration values of 3 stages are measured with 3-axis accelerometers and the software According to the simulation results, an acceleration value of about 0.75 m/s2 was found. This value found revealed that Samsun Light Rail System 35 kilometers double line is comfortable. Thus, it has been determined that both passenger comfort and vibration acceleration values of citizens traveling by tram in Samsun are suitable for human health. These data are indicative of the harmony between the train and the rail line. It is a registration of comfort in the system. In addition, by examining the measurement graphics and results in more detail, the regions where the rail-vehicle interaction is not within the standards and the points with geometric errors on the line will be evaluated and data that will shed light on the maintenance and repair works will be obtained.

THE COMPATIBILITY OF THE SYSTEM IS DETERMINED

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir stated that approximately 300 million passengers are transported annually with 15 trips per day in the Light Rail System and said, “Our two universities are working with SAMULAŞ to determine the system compatibility of the Light Rail System, which has an important place in urban transportation and whose number of passengers is increasing day by day. a project was prepared. With the measurements made, the compatibility of the tram wheels and rails was evaluated in various parameters and tested whether they were within the standards. The harmony of the system in itself is reflected in the comfort of the passengers and personnel on the tram. Of course, this result is an indication of the steps we have taken to provide better service to our citizens. It will also shed light on the work we will do to ensure that the system works in a healthy way for many years. The fact that such an analysis study is being carried out in Samsun for the first time in Turkey is also very valuable in terms of the perspective we draw for the future for the development of such systems.”
