Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya announced on his social media account that education and training will be suspended until 14 March due to adverse weather conditions as of tomorrow.

The statement said:

“In the meeting of the II General Hygiene Board dated 09.03.2022; According to the data received from the Meteorology Regional Directorate at 10.30 today, an ORANGE alarm was issued for Istanbul on Thursday, March 10, 2022 (Tomorrow). Due to foreseen reports and expected adverse weather conditions;

From 1 – 10 March 2022 Thursday; All public and private basic education and secondary education institutions and public education centers, maturation institutes, private education courses, motor vehicle driver courses, various courses, special education and rehabilitation centers, support and training courses in public schools and supplementary courses in private schools,

2- Including Qur'an courses and kindergarten classes between the ages of 4-6; suspending educational activities in all educational institutions until Monday, 14 March 2022,

3- Suspension of activities in private kindergartens, day care centers and children's clubs affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Services until Monday, 14 March 2022,

4- In line with the consultations with our University Rectors in Istanbul, higher education will be suspended until Monday, 14 March 2022,

5- Provided that there is a minimum level of personnel for the execution of compulsory services by our institutions; it has been decided that civil servants, workers and other personnel will be on administrative leave on Thursday, March 10, 2022, except for security, health and transportation services.
