Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer attended the opening of the 33rd MODEKO – International Izmir Furniture Fair hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Stating that there is a great unity in the furniture industry, Chairman Soyer said, “Our target is clear; We will become one of the top 5 exporting countries in the world and we will increase our trade volume in the world's furniture industry to 5 percent.”

MODEKO – 33rd International İzmir Furniture Fair, hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ, started by Efor Fuarcılık and Nobel Expo at Fuar İzmir. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, CHP Izmir Deputy Bedri Serter, Gaziemir Mayor Halil Arda, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality attended the opening ceremony of MODEKO, which will be held between 2-6 March with over 10 companies and over 300 brands from 750 countries. Mustafa Özuslu, Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi, Istanbul Exporters' Association Coordinator President, Furniture Associations Federation President Ahmet Güleç, İzmir Chamber of Commerce Assembly President Selami Özpoyraz, Buca District Governor Mahmut Nedim Tunçer, Balçova District Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta, İZFAŞ General Manager Canan Karaosmanoğlu Buyer , Efor Fairs General Manager Nuray Eyigele İşlendi, Nobel Expo Fairs Chairman of the Board Erhan Celik, heads and representatives of chambers, non-governmental organizations and associations, manufacturers and industry professionals.

Soyer: We will increase our trade volume in the world to 5 percent

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “The furniture industry, which has a foreign trade surplus exponentially every year, is one of the sectors that provides wide employment opportunities. Our furniture exports continue to grow steadily after the pandemic. There is such an enterprising spirit that there is neither a pandemic, an economic crisis, nor a war… I really congratulate all sector representatives for this excitement and enterprising spirit.” Stating that Turkey broke an all-time record in 4,3 with its furniture exports of 2021 billion dollars, Soyer continued: “As of January, our furniture exports across the country reached a volume of 14 million dollars with 325,5 percent. I have no doubt that we will set a new record with the support we provide to the sector from İzmir in 2022. Our goal is clear; We will become one of the top 5 exporting countries in the world and we will increase our trade volume in the world's furniture industry to 5 percent. That's what we're here for, and we will continue to do whatever we can with great enthusiasm.”

Çelik: “İzmir attraction center”

Erhan Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Nobel Expo Fairs, said, “There is no area in Turkey where fairs can be held as comfortably and comfortably as this area. We come here by enlarging the square meters of many of the fairs we held in Istanbul. Izmir is truly a center of attraction as of this year. Eskinazi: “Days ago is full”

Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi said: “The 3 halls were almost full days ago and there was no empty place. This demand is an indication of how good the fair will be.”

Güleç: “We made a name for ourselves in the world in 10 years”

Istanbul Exporters Union Coordinator Chairman Ahmet Güleç said, “This week is a holiday for us, our profession. Energy is splashing all over Turkey. We do the competition fraternally, we are brothers. I am grateful to those who contributed to our industry. As the Turkish furniture industry, we have made a name for ourselves in the world in the last 10 years.”
