2,1 Billion Euro Income Will Be Generated From Antalya Airport Tender!

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that 25 percent of the 25-year rental price, that is, 2 billion 138 million Euros, will be invested in the state coffers at the end of March in the Antalya Airport tender.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu spoke at the opening lecture of the sector seminars on “Turkey's Transportation Policies” organized by the Department of Real Estate Development and Management, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Ankara University. Explaining the contribution of the transportation investments made in the last 20 years in Turkey to the country's economy, Karaismailoğlu said that good planning should be done for a good investment.

Noting that Turkey is in a much better position compared to 20 years ago, Karaismailoğlu stated that great progress has been made. Expressing that Turkey is located in the center of Eurasia in the middle of the world, Karaismailoğlu stated that they aim to become a leader in its region and a country that has a voice in the world. Noting that the transportation sector is the second sector that causes air pollution with 16,2%, therefore, reducing emissions is included in all projects and plans, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said that the infrastructure investments made since 2003 have been put into service safely.

WE AIM TO INCREASING THE DIVIDED ROAD NETWORK TO 2053 thousand 38 kilometers in 60

Underlining that they aim to increase the divided road network to 2053 thousand 38 kilometers, the railway network to 60 thousand 28 kilometers, the number of airports to 950 and the number of port facilities to 61 by 255, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the benefits of these investments will be 156 billion euros. Karaismailoğlu explained that the 2053 transportation vision will bring sustainable and environmentalist scenarios to the fore.

KANAL ISTANBUL IS NEVER A PROJECT THAT WILL BE SUBJECT TO POLITICAL CONFLICT

Referring to Kanal Istanbul in his speech, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said, “A big project like Kanal Istanbul should not be used as a tool for vicious and bad politics. This is a vision project, a very important project that will shape the next 100 years. It is never a project that will be the subject of political conflicts. In order to solve the problems we will encounter in the coming period, it is necessary to plan today. Kanal Istanbul is completely his result. Kanal Istanbul is never a project that can be brought as a real estate-rental project and used as a tool for simple issues and daily gossip politics. It is so funny that people who aspire to run the country talk about it. Dozens of hundreds of ships are waiting to pass through the Bosphorus. Because the number of ships that need to pass through the Bosphorus safely is 25 thousand. But we ensure that more than 40 thousand ships pass safely, without causing an accident, by making extraordinary efforts.”

WE NEEDED TO BUILD ALTERNATIVE WATERWAYS

Pointing out that due to the increase in the trade volume, the waiting times for the ships in the Sea of Marmara will be longer, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“We needed to build an alternative waterway, and Kanal Istanbul is a very important project born out of this necessity. In 2050, 78 thousand ships will pass through the strait with this trade activity. It is not possible to exceed this number. It is not possible for these ships to wait in the Sea of Marmara. That's why we designed Kanal Istanbul as an alternative waterway, to find a solution to global mobility and to have a share in the commercial corridor. We started with partially alternative means of transportation. This will continue. Kanal Istanbul is a state project that will impact the coming centuries and shape global logistics movements. The logic that said, "30 million hungry, what is the need for the bridge" when the first bridge was being built, opposes Kanal Istanbul today. In the details of Montreux, there are the rights and laws of Turkey in case of war and peace. We follow them closely and apply them one-to-one. We are currently using the powers given to us to the fullest even during the war period.”

RİZE-ARTVİN AIRPORT TO BE OPEN IN MAY

Speaking about airline investments, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said that Rize-Artvin Airport, which will be Turkey's second and the world's fifth sea-filling airport, will be put into service in May. Reminding that the tender for Antalya Airport was made, Karaismailoğlu said, “If we were the classical state, if we were not in search of producing, developing and different financial models, we would have had to invest 2025 million Euros in Antalya Airport until 765. Because this airport is not enough. Including an investment of 765 million Euros, we entered the tender for the 2025-year operation of Antalya Airport after 25. The Russians came here, the Germans came, the French came. They made an offer with a Turkish investor. As a result of the completely open and transparent competition, an offer of 8 billion 55 million euros came. And 25 percent of this amount, that is 2 billion 138 million Euros, will be deposited into the state coffers towards the end of March. It is such a successful and big project.”

1915 ÇANAKKALE BRIDGE TO BE OPENED ON MARCH 18

Noting that the projects were completed quickly because there was no financial problem, Karaismailoğlu noted that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge would contribute 2 billion 314 million liras to the country's economy annually. Explaining the technical information about the bridge, Karaismailoğlu stated that the project, which will be put into service on March 18, is among the projects that will be proudly described.
