Documents such as Turkish Republic ID card, driver's license and passport are issued with the data received with the domestic fingerprint recognition system developed with Havelsan's engineering capabilities.
The use of the National Biometric Data Management System, which was developed to secure biometric data, especially fingerprints, with national software is becoming widespread.
The domestic fingerprint recognition system, developed by Bioteksan with Havelsan's engineering capabilities, was first put into use at the General Directorate of Migration Management on March 26, 2021. Identity verification and inquiry processes of all registered immigrants were carried out over the domestic system in a period of approximately 1 year.
The domestic fingerprint recognition system was put into use in 7 provinces within the scope of the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs on January 2022, 81. In a short time, approximately 2 million identity documents, including TR identity cards, driver's licenses and passports, were prepared using the domestic fingerprint recognition system.
Within the scope of the National Biometric Data Management System Project, work has also begun on the use of the domestic fingerprint recognition system, which also detects fingerprints taken from the crime scene, in the General Directorate of Security, the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command.
While protecting domestic capital and gaining technology in fingerprint recognition, it is aimed to nationalize other biometric technologies such as palm, vein, face, iris, retina and voice in the future and to obtain the National Biometric Data Family.
National Security to Biometric Data
It is critical to secure biometric data with national software. For this reason, the Biometric Data System Project was initiated with the protocol signed between our Ministry, Havelsan and Polsan on September 13, 2019, in order to develop all current biometric recognition technologies such as fingerprint, palm print, vein print, face, iris, retina, and voice locally and nationally. Thus, while developing domestic and national biometric systems, the national security of the data was guaranteed.
Bioteksan was established in partnership with Havelsan and Polsan in order to implement the developed national biometric systems in the country and abroad.
It is aimed that the national fingerprint recognition system will be put into use in the General Directorate of Security, Gendarmerie General Command and Coast Guard Command by the end of this year, following the General Directorate of Migration Management and the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs.
