The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, the longest middle span bridge in the world, will facilitate the foreign trade of the Aegean Region, especially in terms of logistics. Levent Özkuşçu, Aegean Region Manager of Çobantur Boltas, one of Turkey's deep-rooted logistics brands, said, “The Çanakkale Bridge will provide significant advantages to exporters, importers and logisticians operating in the region. Our most important gain will be in time.” said.

The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will also enable faster delivery of export products from the Aegean Region to Europe. In addition to reducing delivery times in transportation, it will also strengthen Turkey's “global logistics base” position. The bridge is also expected to facilitate the trade of the provinces in the southern regions, especially the Aegean Region, with European countries.

Levent Özkuşçu, Aegean Region Manager of Çobantur Boltas, one of Turkey's well-established logistics companies, stated that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will provide significant advantages in terms of cost and time to exporters, importers and logisticians in the Aegean Region. Expressing that the Aegean Region's exports increased by 30 percent last year, breaking a record with $24,7 billion, according to TUIK data, Özkuşçu said that nearly half of the exports were made to European countries that can be reached more easily by land.

Noting that the bridge will shorten the delivery times especially between Turkey and countries where the land route is more reasonable, Özkuşçu said, “Our most important gain will be in time.” said.

“To get on the Çanakkale-Gallibolu ferry sometimes takes longer than crossing the border”

Özkuşçu reminded that vehicles loaded with imports and exports use ferries before the bridge and said, “Ferry always means uncertainty. Sometimes you get on without waiting, sometimes you wait in line for 4 hours. Exporters, who want to grow their products as soon as possible before the holiday periods, are waiting in the ferry queue with the holidaymakers. In the summer season, ferries are also expected with summer residents going to the Aegean. There may be delayed ferry services during the winter period. Sometimes we even had to wait longer than the border crossings during the ferry.” he said.

Reminding that it is possible to go to Europe from Çeşme by Ro-Ro, Özkuşçu said that they had difficulties in finding a place on Ro-Ro ships, especially during busy periods. Özkuşçu said, “The third alternative is to go via Istanbul. It was also a serious waste of time and resources.” shared his opinion.

It will strengthen Turkey's logistics position

Underlining that the importance of the 2023 Çanakkale Bridge will increase with the opening of two tunnels that will facilitate the descent and exit from the Kaz Mountains in 1915, Özkuşçu said, “The bridge is not only a part of the Aegean Region, but also of our provinces such as Antalya, Burdur, Isparta, Konya, Balıkesir and Bursa. will facilitate trade. It will bring a certain competitive advantage to the exporter of the region.” also made an assessment.
