Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Significant progress has been made in the studies initiated to reveal an active port under the leadership of Mehmet Hilmi Güler.

Continuing its work at the Ünye Container Port, which will gain momentum through the Black Sea-Mediterranean Road and Ünye-Akkuş-Niksar, the Metropolitan Municipality is bringing the port to the standards that larger ships can use.

PRESIDENT GULER EXAMINED THE STUDIES ON SITE

In this context, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler made inspections at the Ünye Container Port, where the work continues. Making statements about the works carried out, President Güler said that they have covered an important distance in the port.

“UNYE PORT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE REGION'S ECONOMY AND EMPLOYMENT”

Stating that with the works to be done, large ships can dock at the port at the same time and the port will make great contributions to the economy of the region, President Güler said:

“We added 33 meters to the pier, which was built as 150 meters 130 years ago, and we have gained a significant advantage here. The depth of the ships is very important in terms of cargo. We increased the depth, which was 6.80 meters before, to 7.50 meters. In this way, larger ships will come and we will be able to carry more cargo. This means an increase in the income of the region. In the past, when a ship docked at the port, it was not possible for the other ship to dock and had to wait between 48 and 60 hours. We are eliminating this situation with the second pier we have built now. This is a very important advantage. Therefore, we have added 33 meters to the pier built 150 years ago. This means an increase in the income of our region, province and port. Employment means the development of the economy”

“A FIRST WILL BE EXPERIENCED IN ÜNYE PORT”

Expressing that a first will be signed in Unye Port next month and emphasizing that RO-RO ships carrying trucks will carry out voyages, Mayor Güler said, “From next month, a first will take place at Ünye Port and RO-RO activities will begin. With RO-RO ships, 60 to 80 vehicles can be loaded each time. When this process is at full capacity, it can be done 3 times a week,” he said.
