The high-speed train (ICE) route between Hamburg and Berlin via Wittenberge has been closed. Deutsche Bahn sözcüSU said on Sunday that the cause was a cable fire that affected security systems near the Brandenburg town of Wiesenaue.

Due to repairs, the route between Wittenberge and Berlin will likely remain closed until Wednesday evening.

Although it was understood that the fire was caused by a technical malfunction, the investigation has not been completed yet. The focus is on whether it was arson or an attack.

According to the statement of Deutsche Bahn official, 60 trains run between Hamburg and Berlin. An average of 17.000 passengers use this line every day.
