Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has added a new one to the transportation investments it has realized in 12 districts of the city with the aim of an easier accessible city. In this context, the 1 bridges built within the scope of the 'Gebze TEM Bridges Connection Roads 4st Stage Project', which will significantly alleviate the traffic load in the Gebze district of the Metropolitan Municipality, have been completed with the opening of the connection roads to traffic. Marmara Municipalities Union and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc. Dr. Tahir Büyükakın examined the project, which took a deep breath for vehicle drivers and citizens, on site. In the examination, which also included Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz and AK Party Gebze District President Recep Kaya, Mayor Büyükakın, who received information from the Head of Science Department Ayşegül Yalçınkaya, wished the project would be beneficial for Gebze.

“TOTALLY CONNECTED WITH 4 BRIDGES”

President Büyükakın, who examined the project on the Tembelova Bridge, which was rebuilt in the form of 2×2, said, “This region is one of the regions where Gebze traffic is most concentrated. There are OSBs on the north side. All the traffic between Gebze and OIZs was jammed in this direction. There were two points of crossing. Now, those transitions, which are one outbound and one inbound, have been doubled on two bridges. In addition to these, there were two connection bridges at the ends, one in the direction of Çayırova and the other in the direction of Izmit. The bridge, which has two, one going and one coming, has been connected with a total of 4 bridges, two of which are double and one is a connection junction.

“IT SHOULD BE THOUGHT LIKE A GIANT CROSSROAD”

Providing information about the details of the project, Mayor Büyükakın said, “It is necessary to think of this place as if a huge intersection was built at a distance of 6 kilometers. This is a macro system. Çayırova's connection junction in the direction of Istanbul transfers the traffic flowing to the north and towards Istanbul directly to the south. On the bridge (Tembelova), on which we stand, double-sided traffic flow to the north and south is possible. As such, the traffic of the whole region works with a system that will move towards Istanbul in the north and Izmit in the south. There is also a connection at the bottom of the viaduct. Except for the landscaping and other minor works, the project has been completed. In total, 50 million lira was an investment made by the Metropolitan Municipality and 40 million lira was made by the General Directorate of Highways.”

“TRAFFIC IS SERIOUSLY RELAXED”

Stating that the project will breathe life into Gebze's transportation, Mayor Büyükakın said, “The traffic of the region has been relieved in a very serious way. The traffic system is now operational. There is no problem in operation. Serious queues were formed on the Tembelova and Kirazpınar bridges, especially at the start of work in the morning and at the end of the evening. Now there is a very comfortable traffic. It will prevent the workers from wasting time in terms of commuting hours, not losing their work time, and problems such as being late for work. In addition, the traffic flow in the region will provide a great convenience to the industry, especially in terms of logistics movements. This will have serious repercussions on the urban traffic of Gebze," he said.

“GEBZE WILL BE MORE COMFORTABLE TO LIVE”

Expressing that Gebze will become a more livable city with the completion of the Gebze metro with this project, Mayor Büyükakın said, “As it is known, the Organized Industrial Zones in Gebze make a significant contribution to the economy. With this project, the relaxation of public transportation, logistics and service movements will also make serious contributions to the efficient use of the workforce here. We have been trying to overcome this problem for a long time. By the grace of Allah, we have completed this. May it be good for our Gebze," he concluded.

THANKS FROM BÜYÜKGÖZ TO PRESIDENT BÜYÜKAKIN

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc. Dr. Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz, who examined the project together with Tahir Büyükakın, said, “First of all, we would like to thank our Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Tahir Mayor for their dedication to this issue. Really 'What is the number one problem in Gebze?' When asked, the issue of transportation always came to the fore. In this sense, these regions were the most critical points in terms of housing and industry. In this sense, the traffic circulation in the region has been relieved with the bridges and intersections built. We can say that the fact that there was no problem in terms of the north and south connection of Gebze in a long period of time made both our citizens of Gebze and us happy. In the next period, we will feel that the traffic in the region has become more relaxed after the side connections of the project are completed. good luck. We would like to thank our esteemed mayor and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality again," he said.
