Self researcher Jale İris Gökçe/AngelRainbow brought a selection of her works on “FRAGMENTED SELF”, which she carried out between 2010-2022, into the digital space and brought them to the audience.

Gokce; In his virtual exhibition, this time he refers to himself, to the self. Centering his 7-color monochrome canvases, he says, “Whether you think subject or object-centered or look holistically, it's always the same thing we come across”.

The artist is immersed in contemplation in his workshop. There is a paint-plaster chart in front of it; which we have seen in his previous interviews and exhibitions. He will make a choice, one that will change the course of his life… He thinks about hierarchies based on the materials: On the poem “There is blood under all the words”; including all colors. (*) The fragmented empty and confused self of humanity; On “we were blown away, we remained a point, a line”.(**)

What we have and what we don't have… This is a contemplation that “questioning the memory of the space”, which permeates the space, accompanied by the scents of mold, moisture, paint, wet cement, and is like in her other exhibitions. , the skeleton of the building, bricks, spilled plaster and paints remained. The one who paints our eyes too. Paints and plasters… Plaster! and Paint! Always… And every bit of it, our vulnerability, our fragility… What will be covered with these when we are expelled from our homeland? Humanity froze and solidified here, became concrete, dispersed and scattered around with pigments. This is never a sterile and unhygienic questioning.

And again at this point, the artist adds: “Many of us will be swept away in the current world order. But neither foreign attacks nor the Covid-19 pandemic will destroy us here and now! We will destroy ourselves! Listen to the waves coming from the bottom, if we don't want to encounter them as our nightmares often!”

In this exhibition, AngelRainbow is in dialogue with the painting-sculptures-installations in his workshop through the plaster-paint chart in front of him. He returns to the past and presents us with a selection of his diaries. The usual monochrome canvases, with hidden typographic elements… Hierarchical. Containing image-text, text-image… Extending from black-white to color… But for now, AngelRainbow only allows us to see some details. In the next stage, maybe it can expand its borders. Who knows?

AngelRainbow thinks about these with construction materials in his workshop, which resembles a construction site. He engraves them in his diaries, concrete, painting-sculptures, reliefs. That haunting poem remains again and a belated encounter buried in concrete…(*) Cemal Süreya (**) Atilla İlhan
