In the lawsuit filed by the People's Liberation Party (HKP) for the cancellation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Positive Report issued by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization against the construction of the Canal Istanbul Project and for the stay of execution, the Istanbul 10th Administrative Court decided to conduct an exploration and expert examination.
The Istanbul 10th Administrative Court, which examined the application, unanimously decided on 16 February 2022; In order to clarify the dispute from a technical point of view, it was necessary to seek the opinion of experts in the field.
The court ruled that the request for stay of execution should be decided after on-site discovery and expert examination. The discovery and expert examination will be made on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 09.00:XNUMX.

Making a statement on the subject, HKP VQA Member and Istanbul Provincial President Atty. Pınar Akbina said, “The Kanal Istanbul Project is not just madness, it is a project of betrayal against the people of Istanbul, our nature and our homeland. It is a project to destroy our sovereignty rights over the Straits, which were won with the Montreux Convention signed as a result of the victory of our War of Independence. This project is the stabbing of the EU and the US dagger into our bosom and independence,” he said. Stating that they will not allow the destruction of nature, animals and plants with the Kanal Istanbul Project, Akbina stated that they will participate in the discovery and expert examination to be held on March 24 as the CPP.

Lawyers of the People's Liberation Party (HKP) filed two separate petitions with the Administrative Court on January 27, 2020, both on behalf of the party and on behalf of the HKP Chairman Nurullah Ankut Efe, demanding the cancellation of the Kanal Istanbul EIA Report prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the stay of execution. had applied.
In this context, in the petition submitted to the Istanbul Administrative Court, the articles of the Montreux Straits Convention, the European Convention on Human Rights and the ECHR's decisions on the environment were mentioned, and it was stated that the Kanal Istanbul Project was in violation of these decisions.
