Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality is completely restoring the fountains, which are heirlooms of ancestors. The Conservation, Implementation and Inspection Branch Directorate of the Metropolitan Municipality, whose short name is KUDEB, has prepared a special project for the fountains throughout the province. Within the scope of the 'Revival of Historical Erzurum Fountains Project', reports on the physical structure of the fountains throughout the province were prepared under the supervision of historians and experts in the city. After the report prepared, the teams of the Metropolitan, who rolled up their sleeves, repaired 17 historical fountains from top to bottom in the first place.

Stating that the project will continue, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Sekmen, in his evaluation on the subject, reminded that Erzurum fountains are a source of inspiration even for travelers. Chairman Sekmen made the following comments:

“Erzurum is undoubtedly the city of historical fountains that inspire even travelers with the beauty of its waters… There are nearly 200 historical fountains in Erzurum that are heirlooms of ancestors. Of course, the number of these fountains was even higher until recently. We have implemented an important project in order to preserve the ancestral heirlooms left by the benefactors who provided this service to our people in the past, and to leave them to future generations in a healthy way. With this project called 'Revival of Historical Erzurum Fountains', we formed a special team for the restoration of our fountains in need of care. We have completed the restoration of 17 of our fountains with this work, in which scientists also took part. In addition, we implemented the QR code application by making a digital study. We created information boards for each of our repaired fountains. Our citizens can easily access more detailed information about our fountains with the QR codes included in these notifications. Hopefully, we will add new ones to our fountains that are maintained and repaired.”
