The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) is making great efforts to ensure that the train traffic continues uninterrupted in difficult winter conditions. TCDD, which provides personnel and equipment to the railway maintenance team working on the 13 thousand 22-kilometer railway line, takes measures against icing and clearing snow on a 24-hour basis on the lines.

Although the snowfall and cold weather affecting Turkey negatively affected life, train traffic on the railways continued in its normal course. The measures taken by TCDD were effective in keeping the lines open despite heavy snowfall and icing. Train traffic continued uninterruptedly on the 24 thousand 13-kilometer railway line, thanks to the constant vigilance of the crisis desks established in eight regions and the railwaymen working on the field day and night on a 22-hour basis. As a result of the works carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, there was no disruption in train services.

TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş, who took steps before the snowfall within the framework of the information received from meteorology, first created a crisis desk in the center with 8 regional directorates. TCDD management also provided personnel and equipment to the railway maintenance team working on the 13 thousand 22-kilometer railway line. Measures have been increased so that passenger, freight and export trains can complete their transportation in harsh weather conditions without delay. Snow falling on the ground and affecting the train traffic; It was immediately cleaned by the teams fighting in the field on a 24-hour basis, and solution works were carried out against icing. Signaling maintenance teams were vigilant to avoid disruptions in the traffic operating system. The assigned teams continued their scissor cleaning work uninterruptedly to prevent icing. On the YHT lines, on the other hand, there was no disruption in the voyages thanks to the ice prevention automation. YHT defrosting facility provided uninterrupted service at Ankara and Konya stations.

Along the railway lines, 16 plow vehicles, 65 railway maintenance vehicles, 48 ​​catenary maintenance vehicles, 73 road maintenance vehicles, 71 repair and maintenance vehicles, 350 road transportation-signaling maintenance vehicles made 24-hour voyages. The snow accumulated in the form of exile on the railways was cleared with vehicles.

“After life arrives, summer and winter of our country are beautiful.” TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş said that they worked day and night to open the roads under the most difficult conditions. Metin Akbaş thanked his colleagues who worked devotedly to make life accessible all over Turkey.
