Mersin Will Reach Modern Bus Campus in July

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer continues to examine the continuous works of the Metropolitan Municipality and to meet with the citizens. Mayor Seçer, who made investigations at the Metropolitan Municipality Public Transport Campus, gave the good news that Mersin will have a modern bus campus as of July. President Seçer said, “We will create the Transportation Control Unit, where we will control the entire transportation system.” President Seçer, who later attended the public meeting at the Mevlana District Women's and Children's Workshop, then met with the shopkeepers at the Saturday Market and Çiftçiler Street in the Kurdali District.

“With the CNG buses that will come in October, a total of 272 vehicles will join our fleet”

Mayor Seçer made investigations with the Mayor of Yenişehir, Abdullah Özyiğit, at the Metropolitan Municipality Public Transport Campus. President Seçer stated that the work was carried out on 67 decares of land and said, “The construction completion time is December of 2022, but they are working quickly and we are planning to finish it in mid-July.” Reminding that they renewed their bus fleet, President Seçer said, “Currently, our 87 new buses have already started service. As of April, our 67 new buses; 9-meter buses will start to serve, especially to contribute to district and rural neighborhood transportation. With the new lemons with 118 CNG coming in October of this year, a total of 272 vehicles will join our fleet. We will have more than 252 buses together with the 500 vehicles we already have, but those whose economic life has expired will be eliminated. The expansion and renewal of our bus fleet, of course, brings with it the need for settlement.”

“Good luck to Mersin”

Noting that there are problems about the bus campus and that the area served by the Machinery Supply Department is not sufficient, President Seçer shared information about the new area where the works are continuing and said:

“This area is Mersin's old landfill. We reclaimed the ground and then started the superstructure. We made 67 decares of land usable for a very small amount of money according to the value of the land. This provided a significant economic benefit to our municipality. There will be a parking area in the campus where 200 buses can park. Again, we have units for the repair and maintenance of our vehicles. We have units for cleaning and washing. We also have social facilities for our employees and drivers here. In addition, we have a CNG filling station serving our current 87 CNG vehicles. When you consider all these, Mersin will have a very modern bus campus as of July of this year. Good luck to our Mersin.”

“Very convenient location”

Expressing that the location they chose as the public transportation campus is also important, President Seçer said, “One of the main reasons we moved to this location is that it is very convenient as a location. Because the north of the city and new residential areas. There is no large residential area here yet. It's a place on the edge of the city. We think it is a suitable location. It is very close to the ring road, the highway and at a point very close to the main arterial connection roads. We consider it a very important location both in terms of not disturbing the environment and in terms of transportation. Here, we will create the Transportation Control Unit, where we will control the entire transportation system.

“Our women want to work and produce”

President Seçer and Mersinden Women's Cooperative President Meral Seçer later attended the public meeting at the Mevlana Mahallesi Women's and Children's Workshop. CHP Mersin Deputy Cengiz Gökçel, members of parliament, CHP Toroslar District President Cumali Akbaş and Neighborhood Headman Murat Yıldırak also attended the meeting. Mayor Seçer explained that as a municipality for women, they work with an understanding of equal service at all points of the city. President Seçer was greeted here with the cheers of women and children. In addition, the children sang to President Seçer and Meral Seçer.

Stating that Meral Seçer told her that women came to the workshop in Mevlana District with great love, Mayor Seçer emphasized that they knew that women were actually the pillars of the house. President Seçer said, “Our women; I always say, if you squeeze the stone, it will get its juice; these women want to work, they want to produce; He doesn't want to sit idly at home. 'I'm strong, I want to do something. The times are bad, life is expensive, there is a lack of livelihood. The children have school, vaccinations, bread, clothes, expenses are high, I want to contribute,' he says. We hear this. We hear it in Mevlana District, Gülnar, Mut and Tarsus. This is what all women want. It is very valuable, very important,” he said.

“Let our children receive a good education and grow up with the love of humanity”

President Seçer thanked those who volunteered in the Home Atelier Project and said, “I see that there are very valuable works here. Now, I have seen the handicraft products that our sisters have learned from the courses here. I saw the happiness of our children, is there anything more valuable to us than our children? Our reason for being, but look, the children shouted; he said 'no'. The boy himself said; He says I am valuable for my parents. This is how we see it. Let our children be healthy and eat well. Let our children get a good education. Let them grow up with love for humanity, with love for humanity.”

"We are a big family"

Stating that the importance of peace, brotherhood and tranquility is better understood with the developments in Ukraine, President Seçer said:

“We want to live in peace, in peace, in brotherhood, but without being treated as the other. We will respect everyone. This is Mersin, this is the city of brotherhood. Never feel alone or other. You have a Mayor; Mayor of all; embraces everyone. We are not here to fight. We love you very much. For us, the east, the west, the north or the south of Mersin, whatever color they are, whatever their mother tongue, whatever their sect, whatever their gender, is our citizen, the crown of our heads. All of us are identified. We carry the identity of the state of the Republic of Turkey. We are equal citizens. No one can prevent us from this. We are a big family."

President Seçer, who added that they carry out studies in cooperation with the neighborhood headmen, regardless of political party discrimination, said, “The main thing for us is the service they will provide to the citizens. It is the sincerity they will show while performing that service. Our mukhtars are our colleagues," he said.

Gökçel: “I would like to thank everyone who contributed”

CHP Mersin Deputy Cengiz Gökçel also stated that municipalism means touching human life rather than building roads and pavements, and said, “Here, a home has been built in this women's and children's workshop, which serves very well in terms of providing a profession and improving our children's individual skills in terms of scientific education. Here, I would like to thank Ms. Meral and Mr. Mayor, everyone who contributed, and my dear teachers.”

After the public meeting, President Seçer came together with the tradesmen in the Kurdali Neighborhood, Saturday Market and Çiftçiler Street of the Toroslar district and wished them good luck. Mevlana Neighborhood Headman Murat Yıldırak, Kurdali Neighborhood Headman Abdullah İnan and CHP Toroslar District President Cumali Akbaş also attended the shopkeepers' visits.
