Matt Goker appointed CEO of ATA Freight Group

Matt Goker, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ATA Freight Group, the world's leading global logistics and transportation services provider, has been promoted to the position of CEO. ATA Freight Group will continue its steady growth with Matt Goker

ATA Freight Group, the world's leading global logistics and transportation services provider, announced that Matt Goker, who served as Chief Operating Officer (COO), has been promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The announcement was made by ATA Freight Founder and former CEO CJ Oğuzhan, who will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board.

Emphasizing ATA Freight's global workforce, Oğuzhan said: “Matt became the CEO of ATA Freight Group, which includes all ATA Freight Companies in six countries, including ATA Impex and ATA Freight Customs Brokerage in all countries. It has been a great pleasure for me to work with Matt over the years. Starting his career as a salesperson and stepping forward, now our CEO, Matt sets a great example for everyone. The things that make him thrive like this are pretty simple: reliability, loyalty, and hard work. Matt Goker will report directly to me as I will now continue as Chairman of the ATA Freight Group.”

Goker talked about his new position as follows: “During my tenure, I have worked at our company as Assistant Sales Manager, US Sales and Marketing Director, USEC Regional Manager, US and India General Manager, and most recently as COO since 2016. I keep learning, too, as our job requires more effort as time goes on. I am currently studying for a Masters in Technology Management at Columbia University. I am honored to accept the role of CEO, following in the footsteps of CJ, the strong and challenging leader that has made ATA Freight recognized as an innovative and capable global logistics and shipping company with high standards and quality of service.”

Matt Goker, respected and recognized as a leader in his industry, has been a catalyst at ATA Freight in providing market responsive and innovative solutions to meet the needs of global traders, importers/exporters around the world. Led by Goker, a strong advocate of industry collaboration, supply chain digitization and sustainability, ATA Freight has left Quloi, which provides quantitative logistics solutions that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep logistics expertise to transform and optimize the global supply chain. Matt Goker still serves as the CEO of Quloi. In recognition of his leadership in the industry, Goker was named to the 2021 Need-To-Know list by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine this year, and was featured in the magazine under the heading “Distinguished executives providing a roadmap for other leaders seeking to take advantage of supply chain competitive advantage.”

217 trees planted

Goker was also commended for his environmental advocacy and support of the initiative to reduce carbon emissions. Goker is also a strong supporter of Trees for the Future (TREES). Supported by ATA Freight since 2011, TREES is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty by educating farmers to regenerate their land. Recently, the company reached a significant milestone by exceeding its 200.000 tree planting goal, planting 217.000 trees, restoring 87 acres, and taking initiatives to help trees consume 20 metric tons of carbon dioxide over the next 12.528 years. In addition, with its support for TREES, ATA Freight has helped 700 people escape hunger and poverty and move towards a more independent, healthy and sustainable quality of life. Goker's leadership in sustainability also helped ATA Freight win the 2020 EcoVadis Bronze Medal Sustainability Leadership Award.

In addition to his MA in Technology Management at Columbia University, Goker holds a MA in International Business from Tampa University John H. Skykes School of Business and a BA in Economics from Boğaziçi University.
