Collaboration between TCDD and ITU is Developing

The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) will cooperate in the preparation of a strategic action plan for signaling, the establishment of a meteorological early warning system, and the monitoring-prevention-intervention of disaster situations.

TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş held a meeting with the ITU delegation headed by Secretary General Ali Deniz. TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş chaired the meeting held at the Headquarters and was attended by TCDD Deputy General Managers Turgay Gökdemir and İsmail Çağlar, TCDD Technical representatives, YHT Regional Directorate representatives and heads of relevant departments.

At the meeting, issues such as the preparation of a signaling strategic action plan, the installation of a meteorological early warning system, the evaluation of meteorological data, and the establishment of a data station when necessary were discussed, and the monitoring and prevention of disaster situations such as windslip, fog, precipitation, snow, freezing and flooding were discussed.

TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş thanked ITU Secretary General Ali Deniz and the accompanying delegation and said that they had a productive meeting. Drawing attention to the importance of such collaborations and inter-institutional relations in terms of public diplomacy, TCDD General Manager Akbaş noted that a work plan has been prepared and that the work will continue increasingly within the framework of this plan.
