The official opening of the new airport in Tokat, which costs 550 million liras, is planned for March 2022.

Due to the fact that the existing airport in Tokat is not suitable for the landing of large-bodied aircraft, the construction of a new airport was started 3 years ago. The airport, which was tendered by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority affiliated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, cost 550 million TL. The airport, which has a runway with a width of 45 meters and a length of 2 thousand 700 meters, was equipped with the latest technology. The terminal building and tower construction of the airport has come to an end. The opening of the airport is planned for the end of March with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

AK Party Tokat Provincial President Cüneyt Aldemir pointed out that the airport is a very important investment that will open Tokat and its region to the outside world in the future, and develop agriculture, tourism and trade. Stating that the airport is planned to be opened at the end of March, President Aldemir said, “I would like to give the good news of good luck to the people of Tokat. Tokat Airport will be one of the most beautiful and technological investments that not only this region but also Turkey has made recently. In other words, all the opportunities provided by the technology will be realized in the current situation at Tokat Airport. When we look around, the tools that are not available in Sivas or Amasya will now be put into service at this Tokat Airport. When our people start flying here, they will see that all the opportunities provided by technology are used in Tokat and that the most modern facility is built in Tokat.”
