In the statement, it was stated that “We have decided to ban the transit of products coming from Lithuania by rail”.
It has been learned that as of yesterday, Lithuania started not to allow the transit of trains carrying potassium from Belarus.
This step of Lithuania drew the reaction of the Belarusian authorities. Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko announced that Minsk intends to take drastic countermeasures. Golovchenko said, “We will respond symmetrically. The decision has been made, it will affect rail transport from Lithuania,” he said.
Pointing out that Lithuania violated the intergovernmental agreement on railway communication, Golovchenko said, “We will compensate them for all the penalties we are entitled to due to the termination of transport contracts. Relevant lawsuit claims have been submitted. We will also compensate them for the lost profits. These are huge sums,” he said.
