ATO's Call to Continue Direct Flights from Ankara to Abroad

Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman of the Board Gürsel Baran, Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin and ATO Vice President Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, newly appointed Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, THY General Manager and Member of the Board of Directors Bilal Ekşi, and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) Chairman of the Board of Directors, also paid a visit to Turkish Airlines Board Member Şekib Avdagiç, and conveyed their demands for the launch of new direct flights from Ankara to abroad.

Speaking during the visit at the THY Headquarters in Yeşilköy, ATO President Baran said that since they took office as the Management, the issue of direct flights from Ankara has been an unchanging agenda item and that they are working to launch new direct flights from Başkent to abroad.

Baran stated that before the Covid-19 epidemic, with the support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, they made significant progress in their work on direct flights from Ankara to abroad, which they carried out together with Turkish Airlines, adding that the travel restrictions imposed during the epidemic also disrupted the issue of direct flights abroad. told.

Noting that as Ankara Chamber of Commerce, they carry out their work on a three-pronged strategy to support the development of its members, the development of the capital's trade and the country's economy, Baran said, “Easy accessibility and direct flights are indispensable for the development of trade and tourism. Direct flights from Ankara to abroad mean more exports, more tourists, more foreign exchange income, and more contribution to the development of our country.

Baran informed the Turkish Airlines delegation about the "EKO İKLİİM Economy and Climate Change Summit" to be held at the ATO Congresium on March 30-31 under the leadership of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce and invited the delegation to participate in the Summit.

THY Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Bolat, said that they would support the Ankara Chamber of Commerce's work on direct flights from Ankara to abroad.
