Wang Yi explained China's basic stance on the Ukraine issue from the following five points:

1- China insists on respecting and guaranteeing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, and observing, with concrete steps, the purpose and principles of the United Nations Charter. China's stance will always be clear and appropriate to the Ukraine problem.

2- China stands for the concept of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security.

3- China always closely monitors the development of the Ukrainian situation and does not want to see the current situation. The most urgent task right now is for the parties involved to maintain the necessary composure to prevent the situation from continuing to get serious and spiraling out of control. Effectively ensuring the safety of life and property of civilians and avoiding a major humanitarian crisis in particular.

4-China encourages and supports all diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis peacefully. China welcomes direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible. China also supports the establishment of a balanced, effective and sustainable European security mechanism through equal dialogue between Europe and Russia.

5-China is of the opinion that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) should play a constructive role on the Ukraine issue and give priority to the peace and stability of the region and the general security of all countries.

Wang Yi said that China, as a permanent member of the UNSC and a responsible major country, always fulfills international obligations and plays a constructive role in defending world peace and stability.

Emphasizing that China insists on following the path of peaceful development and building humanity's shared destiny, Wang Yi said that they will continue to oppose all kinds of hegemonic forces and resolutely defend the legitimate and legal rights and interests of developing countries, especially middle and small countries.
