In order to introduce the traditional weavings of Anatolia to the world with authentic modern designs, the first stage screening of the Turkish Weaving Atlas was held with the theme of "From the Past to the Future" within the scope of the "Turkey Weaving Atlas Project" carried out by the MEB Istanbul Sabancı Beylerbeyi Maturation Institute with the participation of President Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan. Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and his wife Nebahat Özer also attended the screening held at the Presidential Complex.
The first stage screening of the "Turkey Weaving Atlas" project, which was prepared as a product of the renewal efforts of maturation institutes and carried out by the Istanbul Sabancı Beylerbeyi Maturation Institute under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan, under the Ministry of National Education's General Directorate of Lifelong Learning, was "From the Past to the Future". was held with the theme of ”. Meeting with the guests at a dinner before the Turkish Weaving Atlas stage, First Lady Erdoğan said that “culture” is the set of values that defines oneself most comfortably and quickly.
Stating that getting to know each other from different cultures will reduce prejudices, First Lady Erdoğan pointed out the importance of respecting cultural diversity and difference and said, “It is essential to meet around the common values of humanity and to define the differences correctly, rather than the distinction between us and them. Anatolia; It is a very good example for this with its history, especially with its multicultural atmosphere that makes room for all beliefs and lifestyles of the Ottoman Empire. We also feed off of this historical richness.” he said.

Emine Erdoğan emphasized that the Turkey Weaving Atlas Project emerged as the product of the joint work of powerful institutions and made the following assessment: “The maturation institutes affiliated to our Ministry of National Education were born from the efforts of our Textile Exporters Association and our invaluable designers. Rare examples of our traditional weavings, which are on the verge of extinction, were brought together. Unfortunately, our fabrics, which are no longer a master, have been removed from the chests. With this project, we aim to revive this rich culture that is facing extinction. We want our weavings to be revived by giving local incentives. Turkey is a very strong country in textile exports. Despite the global epidemic conditions, it jumped one step in 2020 and became the world's fifth largest textile exporter. Our goal is to further enrich this export success with our local weavings and to create a Turkish brand in textiles.”

Emine Erdoğan stated that the weaving culture reflects Turkey's rich cultural and geographical features, as well as ethnic and ethnographic accumulation with its different patterns and motifs.
Drawing attention to the characteristics of Anatolian weaving such as Ankara sofu, Edirne red, Hatay silk, Antep kutnu and Muğla dastar, First Lady Erdoğan said, “The art of weaving is not an ordinary fabric production, but a mirror of human interaction with life and nature. The turning points of life such as birth, wedding and funeral are reflected in the motifs. Many feelings and thoughts that have not yet been translated into words are translated with embroideries. Pointing out that the geographical experience of each region reveals a different art and language, First Lady Erdoğan said, “From the motif to the fabric, from the materials used to the design, this craft was an identity as a whole. With this aspect, weaving is a brochure of the world vision of past times and a vast source of history. Turkey Weaving Atlas reveals the traces of Anatolian taste. We do not see this effort as merely preserving our local culture. In an age where globalization has standardized all cultures, we see it as a service to the common accumulation of humanity. Cultural assets in our country are the common treasure of all humanity as well as our geography. The revival of traditional arts means a breath of fresh air for today's design world. Every pattern or color that we hold onto life can also inspire different disciplines. Every field, from architecture to technology, needs nourishment from the abstract world of man. A uniform world is the biggest obstacle to humanity's imagination. Therefore, we cannot allow these precious values to be wiped out from the face of the earth.”
Centuries-old weavings came to life again in the hands of famous designers
Then, with a theatrical show, traditional weavings, clothes designed for use at different times of the day, and samples of home textiles were presented to ambassadors and their spouses, chargé d'affaires and embassy representatives from 99 countries.
On the stage, famous designers such as Arzu Kaprol, Dilek Hanif, Aslı Filinta, Ece Ege, Gül Ağış, Nedret Taciroğlu, Simay Bülbül, Tuvana Büyükçınar and the designers from Sabancı Institute of Maturation took part in clothes designed from centuries-old weavings in Turkey.
Within the scope of the "Turkey Weaving Atlas Project", the naturally dyed weaving of Denizli buldan cloth with the patterns and colors of the Üsküdar fabric was transformed into contemporary designs. Samples of weavings such as Antep kutnu, Ankara ascetic, shawl chapik, ehram, and beledi were also exhibited at the Turkish Weaving Atlas stage.
