Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Zıpkınkurt said that the fact that one of the supercharging stations that Tesla will establish in Turkey will be put into service in Edirne, Turkey's gateway to Europe, will add added value to the city.
Tesla, founded by Elon Musk, has updated the location of the supercharge stations on its official website.
Adding super charging station locations to 10 cities in Turkey, Tesla will set up stations in Edirne, Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Balikesir, Bursa, Hendek (Sakarya), Izmir and Konya.
The supercharging stations planned to be established in Turkey will be able to operate with 75-100 kWh of power, depending on their type, and can charge 25 percent of an average vehicle battery in 34 or 80 minutes.
Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ETSO) President Recep Zıpkınkurt said that Tesla's establishment of a supercharging station in Edirne will add value to the city, that the number of electric vehicles has increased rapidly around the world, and that Turkey has also taken important initiatives in parallel with these developments.
“Electric vehicles are now on the agenda of the world and Turkey. In our country, with the initiative of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Turkey's domestic electric car TOGG is produced. In the assembly phase, we will see our domestic electric vehicles on the roads in the coming period.” Zıpkınkurt pointed out that electric vehicles have certain ranges and that it would not be possible for the system to progress properly without installing charging stations.
Emphasizing that it was not a coincidence that Tesla chose Edirne, Zıpkınkurt said, "We are glad that one of the supercharging stations of Tesla company, owned by Elon Musk, will be established in Edirne. The fact that Edirne was chosen for the establishment of a charging station is because we are our customs gates and the gateway to Europe.
