The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure imposed a fine of 6 million 795 thousand liras on the Northern Marmara Highway Administration, which was closed due to snow. The highway tolls collected from the drivers who suffered from the victimization in the region were also refunded.

Due to the heavy snowfall that affected Istanbul, traffic accidents occurred in some parts of the Northern Marmara Highway on Monday, January 24, and there were disruptions in transportation.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure imposed a penalty of 18 million 6 thousand liras on the responsible company, the Northern Marmara Highway Administration, because the Northern Marmara Motorway was closed to traffic for 795 hours.

Highway tolls refunded

The Ministry also took action to alleviate the grievances of citizens trapped in the region. The highway tolls collected from the drivers who suffered in the region were refunded.
