Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that they will increase the length of the rail system to 7 kilometers with the ongoing 354,3 separate rail system line projects in Istanbul, and said, “By completing one of these projects, Pendik-Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line in the first half of this year, we will help our people. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu examined the works on the Pendik-Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line. Emphasizing that they will further increase their investment activities within the framework of policies that will contribute to smart, environmental and holistic development, Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:

“The year 2022 will be a year in which very large and important urban rail system projects will be realized. Since 2002, as servants of our nation, we have never reduced our investments in Istanbul. We are in pursuit of increasing comfort and speed in the public transportation of Istanbul, the world city. The new projects we have done and will do will continue to breathe life into Istanbul's public transportation system. Our Ministry is working hard on 103,3 separate rail system lines with a total length of 7 kilometers in Istanbul, including the Pendik–Tavşantepe–Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line. Bakırköy (IDO)-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Bağcılar (Kirazlı), metro line, Başakşehir-Pine and Sakura hospital-Kayaşehir metro line, Küçükçekmece-Halkalı- Başakşehir-Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport, metro line, Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe)-Kagithane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport metro line, Üsküdar Altunizade-Çamlıca -Ferah Mahallesi-Bosnia Boulevard Metro line and Zeytinburnu (Kazlıçeşme)- Fatih (Sirkeci) Rail System And With the Pedestrian-Oriented New Generation Transportation projects, we will increase the current 251 kilometers of rail system length in Istanbul to 354,3 kilometers.”

Pointing out that by putting the projects into operation as of the first half of this year, they will have put all of them at the service of the public in 2023, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu pointed out that 52 percent of the rail system network in Istanbul will be built by the Ministry. Touching on information about the works on the Pendik-Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Metro Line, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“Our 7,4-kilometer-long project includes Fevzi Çakmak (Hospital), Yayalar, Kurtköy and Sabiha Gökçen Airport stations. The hourly passenger capacity of our line, which will provide transportation with an operating speed of 80 kilometers, will be 70 thousand passengers. With the completion of the line; To Sabiha Gökçen Airport, KadıköyUninterrupted continuation of Kartal-Pendik Metro Line will be provided. While safe, fast and economical transportation is possible with the direct rail system to the airport, the northern part of our Pendik district will meet with the metro. Within the scope of the project so far; We installed 14 thousand 536 meters of rail. 15 thousand 970 meters of tunnel has been excavated and tunnel construction works have been completed. We produced 4 thousand 99 cubic meters of reinforced concrete in 350 stations. We brought our electromechanical productions to 75 percent. We will complete our project in the first half of this year and put it at the disposal of our people. With the station concepts we designed in accordance with the texture of Istanbul and the functions of Sabiha Gökçen Airport, we will offer Istanbul residents more than just transportation. When our line is put into service, KadıköyA citizen who takes the metro from will be able to reach the airport in a 48-minute journey without being stuck in traffic. 18 minutes from Kartal; You will be able to reach Sabiha Gökçen airport in 10 minutes from Pendik Tavşantepe.”
