IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluwatched the documentary "Nazım is 120 years old" directed by journalist Nebil Özgentürk. Reading the lines of the master poet "We will see good days, children / We will see sunny days / We will drive the bikes to the blue, children / We will drive to the bright blue", İmamoğlu said, "I wholeheartedly believe that good days are very soon and we will create these beautiful days together. We will definitely succeed together,” he said.

The first screening of the documentary "Nazım 120 Years Old - Happy Birthday Nazım Hikmet", prepared in memory of the great poet Nazım Hikmet Ran, with the screenplay and direction of journalist Nebil Özgentürk, was held at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Cemal Reşit Rey Hall. The screening, which was held on 15 January, the birthday of Nazım Hikmet; CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, CHP Istanbul deputies Turan Aydoğan and Sezgin Tanrıkulu, and IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu joined. After the documentary, which includes sections from the life of the master poet, respectively; Nazım Hikmet Culture and Art Foundation Deputy Chairman Kıymet Coşkun, Özgentürk and İmamoğlu each made speeches.

“NAZIM IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST IMPORTANT POETS”

Emphasizing that Nazım Hikmet is a very special person, İmamoğlu conveyed his thanks to all the team who contributed to the documentary. Noting that Nazım Hikmet left masterpieces behind, İmamoğlu said, “He passed away very early. It has existed in this country with the difficulties it has experienced and great struggles. I think we are lucky to be able to read Nazım Hikmet, one of the most important poets not only in Turkey but also in the world, in his own language. The people of these lands loved Nazım Hikmet very much. But unfortunately, both painful memories and distressing feelings lived in these lands. Unfortunately, he passed away away from his hometown because of his views.” Reminding that Nazım Hikmet was not buried in a village cemetery in Anatolia as in his will, but in Moscow, İmamoğlu underlined that this situation is regrettable.

“IT IS A WALNUT TREE IN GÜLHANE PARK”

Stating that Nazım Hikmet exists in these lands with his poems, verses and feelings, İmamoğlu said, “In this respect, the poet Nazım Hikmet is in a village cemetery. Or a walnut tree in Gülhane Park. We greet him with that feeling. He left us such beautiful wills, beautiful relics, such beautiful feelings that even for the sentence "One and free like a tree / and brotherly like a forest", very deep articles and books can be written or very deep philosophies and thoughts can be produced on it. Nazım Hikmet taught us how serious a job it is to live, to love and to love life. Maybe even in the most difficult conditions of the world, Nazim Hikmet taught us to hope, to be hopeful and never give up. He always emphasized the value and beauty of life. He never stopped loving his life, his people and his country.”

“THE MORNING HAS OWNER”

İmamoğlu, who included the lines of the master poet, "We will see good days, children / We will see sunny days / We will drive the bikes to the blue, children / We will drive to the bright blue", said:

“It is imperative that we know, understand and read the value of Nazım Hikmet. Unfortunately, today, we are living in difficult times in our country again. In this country, we live in a period in which young people's dreams are not to dream for our country, but to go abroad. I would like to say that the spirit of that Nazim must exist with all of us and fight in that way so that they do not give up hope on this beautiful country. It is our primary responsibility to be hopeful and look to the future with hope. Moreover, I would like to remind you that it is also an important responsibility of those who love Nazım Hikmet or those who say 'I understand and feel Nazim Hikmet' in terms of keeping hope permanent and strengthening it with that aspect. I sincerely believe that good days are coming soon and that we will create these beautiful days together. We will definitely make it together. 'The morning has its owner, the day does not always stay in the cloud. I would like to renew my belief in these beautiful days with all my heart, by saying, 'The most beautiful days are probably ahead'. May Nazim Hikmet feed our faith. May the words and verses of Nazım Hikmet continue to give you great hope. Because I say we will see very good days together in the very near future. Greetings to Nazım Hikmet, from beautiful Istanbul, from 16 million.”

The night ended with the concert of Serenad Bağcan and Ferhat Livaneli Orchestra, who took the stage after the speeches.
