Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a written statement about historical bridge restorations. Karaismailoğlu, who stated that while signing the projects of the century, they also protect the historical values, "Registered in the inventory of the General Directorate of Highways as of December 2021; There are 2 historical bridges registered with stone, wood, iron and reinforced concrete in the country, and 421 historical bridges from the Ottoman Period abroad, mostly in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
WE CONTINUE RESTORATION WORK ON 32 HISTORICAL BRIDGES
Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of historical bridges, 33 of which were completed in 2021 and brought to the cultural heritage, has reached 406, and continued as follows:
“We have brought back to our cultural heritage the historical bridges such as Malabadi Bridge, Kızılin (Göksu) Bridge, Kastamonu Taşköprü, Büyükçekmece (Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Bridge) and Ani ( Ocaklı) Bridge, which had an important function in the period they were built. Edirne Long Bridge, Silivri Mimar Sinan Bridge and Short Bridge, Historical Hıdırlık Bridge in Tokat, Historical Tekgöz and Höbektaş Bridges in Kayseri Kocasinan district and Kapuzbaşı Historical Bridge in Yahyalı District are among the historical bridges that we have completed the restoration works and put back into service. In order to transfer our historical bridges to future generations; As of December 2021, we continue the restoration works on 32 historical bridges. By showing the necessary sensitivity to contribute to the development of conservation awareness, we are restoring our ancestral historical bridges. We ensure that it is preserved in accordance with its originality. Our roads and bridges are our title deeds on this land.”
HISTORICAL BRIDGES ARE IMPORTANT VALUES OF OUR COUNTRY
