IETT took the first step to purchase 2022 electric vehicles in its 100 budget. The test process of the electric bus with a range of 300 kilometers has been started. With the purchase, 100% electric buses will be added to the fleet for the first time in IETT history. The test process has started for the purchase of IETT 28 electric buses from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) affiliates. The first tests of the Ikarus brand XNUMX% electric vehicle, brought by truck from Hungary, were carried out on Friday, XNUMX January with the participation of IETT General Manager Alper Bilgili and the relevant Department Heads.

IETT delegation and company representatives got on the electric bus and went first to Yedikule and then to the IMM campus in Saraçhane via Millet Street. Company officials gave detailed information about the vehicle. It is stated that the vehicle with a range of 300 kilometers is still used by countries such as Romania, Germany and Austria.

IT WILL ALSO BE TESTED WITH PASSENGER WEIGHT

The Ikarus brand electric vehicle will be tested for a week with the weights placed on it. Detailed evaluations will be made about the vehicle's range and other parts. After testing the electric vehicles of other brands, IETT will create a technical specification for the purchase of electric vehicles. Then, the tender process for the vehicle purchase will be started.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES WILL COME TO THE FLEET

IETT's 2022 budget and performance and investment programs were approved by the IMM Assembly on 12 November 2021. The 7.7 billion lira budget also included the purchase of electric vehicles that would provide a more comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation.
