Finally, 15 new buses, 20 of which are solo buses and 35 of them are articulated, were delivered to the Capital City by the EGO General Directorate.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has accelerated the purchase of buses due to the buses that have completed their economic life and the increasing population, continues to continue its transportation attack throughout the city.

EGO General Directorate, which plans to include all 301 buses purchased with the loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the equities of the Metropolitan Municipality, to its inventory by the end of June, 85 buses received in December and BELKA A.Ş. Ankara will offer a total of 22 new buses, including 377 buses that will be converted into electric buses by Ankara.

EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş announced that they gave the new buses to the lines where density was determined as a result of the observations made by the field inspectors, especially the requests:

“From the moment we started our duty, we have carried out a comprehensive study in order to ease the public transportation in the city and to solve the problems of Ankara regarding public transportation. As a result of this work, we started a project with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Within the scope of this project, a total of 273 buses, 28 of which are CNG powered and 301 of which are diesel, will be delivered. By the end of June 2022, all of these vehicles have reached Ankara and will begin to serve our citizens from Ankara.”

PRIORITY OF LIFE IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

EGO General Directorate, which prioritizes life safety in public transportation, enables disabled citizens to travel comfortably with state-of-the-art buses.

There are low-floor, air-conditioned, suitable for carrying bicycles, passenger information screens, announcement system and double-entry USB ports, as well as wide seats and wheelchair-specific areas for elderly, pregnant and disabled passengers.

EGO bus driver Murat Karakılıç, who stated that the buses, which attract attention with their safety equipment, also have a vehicle tracking system, cameras and recording system, pointed out that the newly purchased buses are safer and more comfortable for both the driver and the passengers, and said, “The fuel consumption of the new CNG buses is very good, environmentally friendly as well. Disabled lift doors in vehicles are much more useful than old vehicles, and we can open and close them more easily in traffic. Disabled citizens can now get on the bus more easily. The braking system of our 2022 model vehicles is also much safer and quieter than the old vehicles. Our new vehicles have more cameras. This gives us convenience in terms of security when getting on and off passengers both inside and outside,” he explained the features of the buses.

Citizens who started to use the new buses that started their journeys expressed their satisfaction with the following words:

-Necip Gunay: “The new buses are very nice. It would be much nicer if the old buses were arranged in this way as well.”
