East Garage Necropolis Area Will Become a Center of Attraction

Unfinished East Garage Necropolis Area Project, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin BöcekIt was completed quickly when he took office. During the excavations carried out under the supervision of the Antalya Museum Directorate and with the support of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, 866 tombs built into the bedrock were unearthed. In the project carried out on an area of ​​9 thousand 136 square meters, the roof of the necropolis area was covered with steel construction. In order to protect the archaeological finds in the area from rain and sun rays, insulation and isolation processes were carried out on the roof. Walking paths that will allow you to see the historical burial sites closely have been completed.

SCIENCE COMMITTEE APPROVED

The scientific committee formed within the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality also gave a report on the museum, honor and arrangement of the Eastern Garage Necropolis Area. The museum will open the doors of the necropolis area to its visitors with the approval of the project regarding its appropriation and arrangement. Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcekalso shared the Doğu Garajı Necropolis Area Project with the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who he visited in Ankara last week.

A VERY RICH MUSEUM

İsmail Oskay, Head of the City History and Publicity Department of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, announced that the excavations have been completed in the area that will form the infrastructure of the museum. Oskay said, “Our scientific committee has decided to make the arrangement of the museum and the honor of this place. East Garage Necropolis Area will be one of the most important museums in the world, especially about belief in the afterlife. It is a very rich museum in terms of content. It will make a very important contribution to Antalya's culture and tourism. It will become a major attraction. It is a project that will raise awareness for Antalya. With the support of our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, our work will be completed as soon as possible.”
