The Way to Have Radiant Skin 'Carbon Peeling'

Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon Associate Professor İbrahim Aşkar gave information on the subject. Carbon peeling, as the name suggests, is a peeling, that is, a skin renewal process. Carbon peeling, which is one of the frequently applied laser skin rejuvenation systems today, is the peeling, that is, skin regeneration, with the heat obtained by detonating and burning the carbon applied to the skin with the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. In other words, the effects of both carbon and Q-switched Nd:YAG laser on the skin work together in carbon peeling. With this increase in temperature, the pores become narrower, while the production of collagen and elastin under the skin is stimulated. With carbon peeling, it offers solutions for active acne, acne scars, spots, pore opening, dullness of the skin, fine wrinkles, loss of elasticity, lubrication of the skin, cleaning and improvement of black spots. Sunspots on the face, melasma, and lip spots benefit from carbon peeling. With carbon peeling, a skin that is cleaned of dead skin parts, brighter, more alive, more alive and pore openings returned to normal is obtained. At the same time, loss of skin tone and sagging are delayed. After carbon peeling, the lubrication of the skin is also balanced. With the balancing of oily skin on the skin, active acne dries up, while the formation of new acne is suppressed. Carbon peeling, which is mostly used as a skin care, can be applied in four seasons as it has no side effects. The applied carbon also has benefits for the structure of the skin. Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm increases the effect and absorption of carbon on the skin, while exploding the carbon particles remaining on the skin surface and creating heat, it removes dead cells and tissues. The feature of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is that it can penetrate and affect deep tissues without damaging the skin.

How is it applied?

After cleaning the skin, cold steam is applied to open the pores and soften the skin. Carbon cream or lotion is applied to the skin surface and waited until it dries (15-20 minutes). Some of the carbon particles applied to the skin penetrate the lower layers of the skin. After the carbon dries, it is shot as regularly as possible with the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Q-switched Nd:YAG laser pulses only see and act on black colored carbon particles. After the laser shots are over, a carbon solution mask is applied to the skin immediately. While this mask continues the effect of carbon on the skin, it also shows a soothing effect. With this mask, which is left for 15-20 minutes, it is ensured that the carbon particles penetrate the skin thoroughly. Immediately after the carbon peeling session, a temporary pinkness occurs on the skin. This pinkness is a sign that the procedure is effective. In the same period, a radiance and freshness begin to stand out on the skin. Rarely, temporary itching may occur. Even if it is indoors for at least one month after the application, sunscreens with a protection factor of more than 30 should be used. Sunscreens should be repeated every 2 hours. At the same time, they should be protected from the sun and should stay away from sauna and solarium. Hot baths and baths should not be entered. Shower should not be taken on the day of the carbon peeling session.

The age of the patient, the structure and weariness of the skin determine the session intervals and the number of sessions. After the doctor's examination, the intervals and the number of sessions are determined and the carbon peeling application is started. Session intervals are 7-21 days and the number of sessions varies between 5-10 sessions. After these sessions, depending on the structure and type of the skin, an application can be made every 3-6 months to prolong the effect of carbon peeling. After the carbon peeling sessions are completed, the effect continues for 12-18 months. After 5-10 sessions of carbon peeling, the spots improve visibly. In addition, depending on the patient's aging, genetic structure and environmental factors, carbon peeling sessions are an application with an unlimited number of sessions that can be repeated in the future. Carbon peeling is a skin rejuvenation procedure that can also be applied to dark-skinned patients. It can also be applied in combination with carbon peeling, botox, classical skin care, filling, PRP, mesotherapy, focused ultrasound, etc. applications.

Finally, Associate Professor İbrahim Aşkar added, “Although the effect of the carbon peeling skin rejuvenation process begins to be seen 15 days after the first session, it is necessary to wait for all sessions to end in order to see the full effect. Each session increases the effect of carbon peeling on the skin. Carbon peeling, which can be easily applied to every skin type, offers a comfortable treatment opportunity because it is painless. Carbon peeling, which is a non-ablative (non-peeling) laser application, is an important advantage that it does not cause scars and crusting compared to other laser applications. It is an important advantage to be able to do all four seasons, and to return to daily activities immediately after carbon peeling. It is a process that can be done even during lunch break in business life. According to other laser skin rejuvenation methods, it can be applied in the summer. The number of sessions may vary depending on the patient's structure, skin structure, and skin problems, and information on the number of sessions can be given after being examined by a specialist doctor.
