Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the inflation figures for December. After the inflation rate, annual inflation for 2021 emerged. This rate had a direct impact on the civil servant and retiree rate. Millions of civil servants and retirees turned their eyes to the statement from TÜİK. After the announcement that inflation will be shaped on an annual basis, the difference in inflation that civil servants and pensioners will receive has also emerged. Accordingly, consumer prices increased by 13.58 percent monthly and 36.08 percent annually in December. The expectation was 8.54 percent monthly and 30.05 percent annually. Inflation, which exceeded expectations, was recorded as the highest in the last 19 years.

The CPI expectation was 30.05 percent annually, while the core inflation expectation was 24.3 percent.

Monthly inflation was 28.5 percent in transportation, 16.5 percent in household goods and 16 percent in food.
