Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which has signed many projects in order to facilitate the life of disabled people, continues to provide free of charge repair of battery and wheelchairs of disabled citizens with its Wheelchair and Maintenance and Repair Workshop. In the workshop, which became operational in July 2020, maintenance and repair of 600 battery and manual wheelchairs have been carried out so far.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, acting with the goal of "Accessible Capital", continues to implement practices that facilitate the lives of disabled citizens living in the Capital.
In the 'Wheelchair and Maintenance and Repair Workshop', which was established by the Disabled and Rehabilitation Branch Directorate of the Social Services Department to reintegrate the disabled citizens living in Ankara into the society and meet their needs, the maintenance and repair of the battery powered and manual wheelchairs of the disabled citizens are carried out.
WHEELCHAIRS ARE MAINTAINED FREE OF CHARGE
The Metropolitan Municipality, which prioritizes efforts to ensure that people with disabilities are more involved in social life, considers the needs of disabled citizens using electric and manual wheelchairs.
For this purpose, in the Wheelchair and Maintenance Repair Workshop, which was put into service in July 2020, free battery maintenance, wheel, brake, body care, oil control and engine brain cleaning are provided free of charge to the battery chairs of the disabled citizens whose warranty period has expired.
SUPPORT TO THE ECONOMIES OF DISABLED CITIZENS
Emphasizing that they aim to help citizens in line with the "disabled-friendly" service approach, Disabled and Rehabilitation Branch Manager Mehmet Bağdat shared the following information about the service provided:
“We started our workshop in July 2020. In our workshop, we carried out the maintenance and repair of 5 battery and manual wheelchairs in 2 years with 1,5 personnel and 600 vehicles. We know that these repairs are made at very exorbitant prices in the market. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we provide this service completely free of charge. In this sense, we support our disabled citizens and their families economically. After our disabled citizens or their families call us and make an appointment, we take the wheelchairs of our citizens from their homes and bring them to our workshop, and after repairing them within 1-2 days, we return them to their homes.”

At the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department Disabled and Rehabilitation Service Center in Sincan, the maintenance and repair calls of disabled citizens are answered immediately.
Disabled citizens or their families who want to benefit from wheelchair maintenance and repair can benefit from this service by calling the phone number “(0312) 507 10 01”. The teams that meet the demands from all districts of the capital, take the wheelchair from their address and repair it in cases where the citizens cannot bring the wheelchair themselves.
