After a long break, work has started on the Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir- Osmaneli High Standard Railway Line. Bursa Deputy Mustafa Esgin stated that the first excavation for tunnel constructions in Osmaneli region was struck.

There are new developments on the Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli High Standard Railway Line, the foundation of which was laid 9 years ago but could not be completed until today due to route and project changes.

The part of the project from Bursa to Osmaneli is planned to be completed by the end of 2023. The line, which will then be extended to Bandırma, will be used for freight transport with port connections as well as passengers. The foundation of the Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli High Standard Railway Line was laid in 2012 at the Balat location on the Bursa Mudanya road with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Çelik and Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım. However, in the past 9 years, the process could not be completed due to the change of the route due to the earthquake risk, the problems experienced in the expropriation, and the re-construction of the projects.

Lastly, in August last year, the tender for the 201-kilometer Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli High Standard Railway Line Construction and Supply of Electromechanical Systems was held by the Ministry of Transport, General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments. Kalyon İnşaat won the tender, with an offer of 9 billion 449 million liras. Within the scope of the tender, the 95-kilometer Bursa-Bandırma line, the 56-kilometer Bursa-Yenişehir line and the 50-kilometer Yenişehir-Osmaneli line took place. In order to start the works on the 50-kilometer Yenişehir-Osmaneli line, Kalyon İnşaat started the construction site in an area of approximately 45 thousand square meters around Yenişehir Ebeköy. According to the project, Bursa will be connected to the High Speed Train Line via Yenişehir and Osmaneli, thus providing uninterrupted transportation between Bursa - Bilecik - Ankara - Istanbul. In this way, the distance between Bursa and Ankara will be reduced to 2 hours and 10 minutes. According to the information received from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, 30 million passengers and 59 million tons/year of cargo are expected to be transported annually in the Bursa – Osmaneli leg of the project.
