Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar met with Ankara Representatives of media organizations at breakfast. Minister Akar answered the questions by making statements about the agenda during his meeting with the journalists.

Making an evaluation on the new military system that started on June 26, 2019, Minister Akar reminded that in this system, privates can also become generals.

Explaining that the new military system was made by making arrangements within the framework of changing and developing conditions and needs from 1927 to 2019, Minister Akar noted that the new system has become a system after intensive studies.

Explaining how the paid military service fee is determined, Minister Akar stated that the salary of 6 non-lieutenants is taken as a criterion and that when this salary increases, the paid military service fee will also increase.

Stating that with the system in question, the needs of both the armed forces and the youth are met, Minister Akar also stated that there are serious reductions in the number of roll call leaks.

Minister Akar said, “The continuation of paid military service is really important in eliminating uncertainty. There was a 2021 percent increase in paid military service applications in 57. According to the latest estimates, the military service fee is 55 thousand 194 liras. Why? The salary of a lieutenant went up.” said.

Minister Akar noted that after completing his six-month military service, the salary of a Mehmetçi who wants to perform this service for 12 months is 4.250 TL, a reserve NCO's salary is 8 TL, and a non-commissioned officer's salary is 500 TL.

Minister Akar also announced that 6 of those who entered as privates within the scope of this system, which is also applied in modern armies, were officers, 41 non-commissioned officers, 480 specialist non-commissioned officers and 1.845 contracted privates.
